09/07/2011:  ARABiH, the Bosnia & Herzegovina Amateur Radio Association, will be
represented in the 2011 IARU HF World Championship by twelve stations signing

Castle of Haapsalu (WCA ES-00003). He plans to work on 20 meters only SSB from

09/07/2011:  GR2HQ is the callsign of the UK Headquarters team for the IARU HF
Championship Contest and will be QRV on all bands. Several DXCC entities within

09/07/2011:  Guy G3ZHL, Ken G3YKI and Trevor G8IBO hope to be active (80-6
metres may be possible) as GM3ZHL/p from various IOTA island groups in north
west Scotland during a sailing trip from 9 to 22 July 2011. The route and
activations will depend totally on the weather. QSL via GM3ZHL (bureau) or

09/07/2011:  The Luxembourg Amateur Radio Society (RL) will participate in the
IARU HF World Championships as LX0HQ. Twenty-two operators from Luxembourg,
Germany and The Netherlands will be QRV from three different locations
(Eisenborn at LX0RL, Eschdorf at LX7I and Bascharage at LX1TI) with nine

09/07/2011:  The International Amateur Radio Union station NU1AW/5 will be
active during the IARU HF World Championships from a group of Central Texas

09/07/2011:  Youngsters take control of Finland's 20m SSB IARU HQ Station at
Radio Arcala (OH8X) using the callsign OH2HQ. The team includes Mari OH2FPK,
Leevi OH2FHN. Joona OH2FPG and Joel OH2FHI. QSL via the bureau.

09/07/2011:  Operators Tom PY2YU, Rodrigo PY2KC and Marcelo PY2NA will activate
the PS2T station for the IARU HF World Championships from Araraquara (SP),

10/07/2011:  Look for Pontus, SM0RUX, to be active from the island of Hvar (IOTA
EU-016, ACIA IC-668, CIA-13, IOCA CI-028, MIA MC-132, WLOTA 1206) as 9A/SM0R
from 10-15 July 2011. This operation will be a leisure DXpedition, and will work
portable from different beaches mainly during daytime! QSL direct or via the
bureau to SM0RUX. []

10/07/2011:  David, K2DBK, will be operating holiday style from the northwest
part of Costa Rica, near the city of Liberia, in Guanacaste Province (Grid Loc.
EK70). Look for him to be QRV as TI7/K2DBK, in the late afternoon local time,
operating SSB only on 20-10m and possibly 6m if conditions permit using 100w and

11/07/2011:  Pekka, OH2YY, plans to be active from Nauru (IOTA OC-031) as C21YY
(requested call) between 11-20 July, 2011. Using a beam and dipoles, he will be

11/07/2011:  Helge, LA1QDA will be active from Sotra Island [Store Sotra] (IOTA
EU-055, WW Loc. JP20MH) on 11-31 July 2011. He plans to be QRV on 80-6 metres,

11/07/2011:  Look for Lars, SM3BDZ and Thomas, SM3DMP to be active from the
island of Norra Ulvon (IOTA EU-087), using the special callsign SF3U. Hours of
operation limited to degree of goodwill of wives and dogs. Plans are to be QRV
on 30, 20 and 17 metres with 100W to wire vertical. QSL via SM3DMP, bureau or

11/07/2011:  Claude, HB9CRX and xyl Doris, will be vacationning in Kissamos,
Kissamos Province, Chania Prefecture, island of Crete (IOTA EU-015, GIOTA
KRS-005, MIA MGC-005, WLOTA 1400) on 11-27th of July 2011. Claude will sign
SV9/homecall. QRP/CW on 10, 12, 15, 17, 20 and 30m. QSL via his home call, when

11/07/2011:  Bob, W5UQ and Bill, W5SJ will be active from Savannah, Grand Cayman
Island (IOTA NA-016, WLOTA 1042, WW Loc. EK99IG) as ZF2UQ and ZF2EZ,
respectively, from 11-17th of July 2011. They will be based at the ZF1A club
station. Operation will be primarily CW with an emphasis on 6 metres. Bill will
operate SO in the CQ WW VHF contest. Bob will be working all other bands, CW and
SSB. It is planned to be fun and relaxing - dits, dahs and the beach! QSLs for

12/07/2011:  John, W5JON (V47JA) and xyl Cathy, W5HAM (V47HAM) will once again
be active from their Calypso Bay, island of St. Kitts (IOTA NA-104), hillside
vacation home (WW Loc. FK87PG) between 12 July and 2 August 2011. Plans are to
be QRV on 80-6 metre SSB, including both CQWW VHF Contest and RSGB IOTA (SSB)
Contest. Equipment will be: Kenwood TS-590S, Yaesu FT-857D, KL-400 Amplifier
(400 Watts) and 80-10m Multiband Dipole, and S9 Vertical; 6m - 3el Yagi. QSL

24/07/2011:  Operators John IK8LIU, Francesco IK8WEJ, Vincenzo IZ0FKE, Oreste
IZ8EDJ, Aurelio IZ8EGM, Rosario IZ8KNW, Dario IZ8LKL, Fabio IZ8OJG and Giuseppe
IZ8UZF will be active as IC8L on the 24th of July 2011 from Licosa Island (IOTA
EU-031, IIA SA-001, MIA MI-051, WW Loc. JN70KG) and lighthouse (WAIL CA-020,
ARLHS ITA-089, TWLHD WLH I-019, WLOTA 3342). The island of Licosa is also part
of the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park (WFF IFF-008), and is located in

30/07/2011:  Members of the Shannonbasin Radio club with the Galway Radio club
will be active as EJ3Z during the RSGB IOTA Contest (30-31 July) from the island

August 2011. He plans to be QRV on 30-6m CW, SSB and the Digital modes. QSL via

11/08/2011:  Travis, AF6WU and Kjerstin, KJ0DVA will be active from the island
of Sint Maarten (IOTA NA-105, WLOTA 0711) as PJ7/homecalls on 11-15th August
2011. Operation will be SSB on (mostly) 15, 17, and 20 metres. QSL LotW as

20/08/2011:  From 20th August, for 20 days, GB0PAS will be aired for the
Pontefract Astronomical Society. A special event station to mark the visit of Sy
Liebergot, NASA Flight Controller who is giving a talk at Carleton Community
High School: "Apollo 13: The longest hour" on 10th September at 18:00-19:00. QSL

01/09/2011:  Look for special event station GB4BOB to be active from 1st to 20th
September 2011 to commemorate the Battle of Britain. After running this station
as a one-off for the 70th anniversary, the Pontefract & District Amateur

   Effective immediately Tom McShane, NW6P, has resigned as a director and the
secretary of NCDXF.
   Tom has been on the board of directors and its secretary for over 15 yrs.
   Tom suffered a serious stroke on January 25, 2011 and has been recuperating
since then.
   Tom felt that his stroke rehabilitation would be a full time job for a number
of months.
   The NCDXF board and officers wish Tom continuing great success in his
recovery. He will be missed.

   The 4W6A team welcomes Bernd Länger, VK2IA, as the seventh and final member
of the DXpedition. Bernd has joined the DXpedition in order to help balance the
requirement for CW operation. He brings a wealth of DXpedition and contesting
experience from Europe and the Asia-Pacific area.
   Also joining the team, although not in Timor-Leste itself, are Col McGowan,
MM0NDX, and Kev Haworth, M0TNX. Col, who is the founder and editor of the DX
World website [], has been appointed as pilot while Kev will
be the assistant QSL manager to Tim, M0URX. Col will be responsible for
providing feedback to the team on Atauro Island. He may be contacted at
   CDXC (Chiltern DX Club - the UK DX Foundation), the RSGB DXpedition Fund, the
German DX Foundation, the Northern California DX Foundation, the European DX
Foundation, the Nippon DX Association and the Northern Illinois DX Association
are the latest DX clubs and foundations that are kindly providing financial
support for the DXpedition. The team is very grateful to all DX groups,
companies and individuals who have offered sponsorship. All are listed with than

Payments may be made by credit or debit card and you do not need to have a
PayPal account yourself in order to make a donation.
   4W6A will be QRV from Atauro Island (IOTA OC-232), Timor-Leste (East Timor),
from 16 to 26 September 2011. Activity will be on all bands 10 to 160 metres,
using CW, SSB and RTTY. The QSL manager is M0URX, direct (SAE plus 1 IRC / $2),
via the bureau, or LoTW. The entire log will be uploaded to LoTW as quickly as
possible after the end of the operation or, if possible, even during the

HI Folks,
   Just to say that release 1.18 of 10th Edition of WAP-WACA & WADA Directories
are available on line to Download at WAP website: . WAP-WACA
contains 3729 calls used in Antarctica & Peri Antarctic areas since 1945; and
it's a 47 pages book. WAP-WADA, 29 pages book, lists 770 Bases, Camps, Huts and
various settlements present in Antarctica & Peri-Antarctic areas, that
represents about 32 years of our Antarctic passion.
   Both are available for free at WAP website; just check the central section of
the Home page, download it and enjoy !
   Of course there are some mistakes or some missing issues, but we'll be
grateful to those who would like to help us to do it better!
   While on WAP website, pay a visit to the Antarctic QSL Gallery, the largest
Antarctic QSL collection WW and if you have some rare or new QSL send us a scan
copy, we'll upload them on.
   Enjoy Antarctica as much as we do!

2011 W-HQ-S Award

>From IARU HF Championship rules:
   To contact as many other amateurs, especially IARU member society HQ
stations, around the world as possible using the 160, 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10
meter bands.

1) The award is issued by MK QTC (The Polish Radio Amateurs' Journal) Editor.
2) The purpose of this award is to maximize contacts with national IARU central
stations all over the world, during the IARU HF Championship (July, 9-10 2011
3) The award is issued in two classes: Basic, for having at least 10 contacts
with the HQ stations, i.e. AO8HQ, DA0HQ, GB5HQ, EM7HQ, SN0HQ, IU8HQ etc.
Special, W-HQ-S Special Award, limited to top three operators worldwide, for
having the highest number of HQ stations contacted during the Championship.
Note: one HQ station counts per band and per mode, up to 12 times i.e.
1.8MHz-CW, 1.8MHz-SSB, 3.5MHz-CW, 3.7MHz-SSB, 7MHz-CW, 7MHz-SSB, 14MHz-CW,
14MHz-SSB, 21MHz-CW, 21MHz-SSB, 28MHz-CW - 28MHz-SSB.
4) A list of valid contacts should be submitted within 30 days after the
Championship to the following address:
5) W-HQ-S Award may be issued in two formats: - High resolution print, with the
applicant's individual call sign, original seal and Chief Editor signature, for
a fee of 5 Euro or $7 USD. The funds may be sent via PayPal to:
(award name and applicant's call sign should be included as a transaction
note) - Electronic (JPG file) with call signs of all winners, at no cost.
6) The award is available to SWL.
7) Operators unable to submit electronic applications may apply using standard
paper forms. The application and the fee should be sent to: MK QTC,
Suchacz-Zamek, PL-82340 Tolkmicko, Poland.

Today we`ve added Hungarian DX Contest 2011

   The Pontefract & District Amateur Radio Society is operating a number of
special event stations. Until 8 July, GB0PLF will be on the air for the
Pontefract Liquorice Festival. The station is located at Carleton Community
Centre, leading up to the festival. On 9 July, GB0PH will be on the air for
Pontefract Heritage. The station will be located at Pontefract Castle (CASHOTA
G261, WAB SE42, WW Loc. IO93IQ) for a fun day at the Castle, organised by
Pontefract Heritage Group.  Then on 10 July, GB0PLF will be on the air again,
with a new NOV to operate in Pontefract town centre on the actual day of the
