09/07/2011: Guy G3ZHL, Ken G3YKI and Trevor G8IBO hope to be active (80-6 metres may be possible) as GM3ZHL/p from various IOTA island groups in north west Scotland during a sailing trip from 9 to 22 July 2011. 09/07/2011: The Luxembourg Amateur Radio Society (RL) will participate in the IARU HF World Championships as LX0HQ. Twenty-two operators from Luxembourg, Germany and The Netherlands will be QRV from three different locations (Eisenborn at LX0RL, Eschdorf at LX7I and Bascharage at LX1TI) with nine stations. 09/07/2011: Youngsters take control of Finland's 20m SSB IARU HQ Station at Radio Arcala (OH8X) using the callsign OH2HQ. The team includes Mari OH2FPK, Leevi OH2FHN. Joona OH2FPG and Joel OH2FHI. QSL via the bureau.
09/07/2011: Operators Tom PY2YU, Rodrigo PY2KC and Marcelo PY2NA will activate the PS2T station for the IARU HF World Championships from Araraquara (SP), Brazil. QSL via K3IRV.
10/07/2011: Look for Pontus, SM0RUX, to be active from the island of Hvar (IOTA EU-016, ACIA IC-668, CIA-13, IOCA CI-028, MIA MC-132, WLOTA 1206) as 9A/SM0R from 10-15 July 2011. 10/07/2011: David, K2DBK, will be operating holiday style from the northwest part of Costa Rica, near the city of Liberia, in Guanacaste Province (Grid Loc. EK70). 11/07/2011: Bob, W5UQ and Bill, W5SJ will be active from Savannah, Grand Cayman Island (IOTA NA-016, WLOTA 1042, WW Loc. EK99IG) as ZF2UQ and ZF2EZ, respectively, from 11-17th of July 2011. They will be based at the ZF1A club station. Operation will be primarily CW with an emphasis on 6 metres. Bill will operate SO in the CQ WW VHF contest. 01/09/2011: Look for special event station GB4BOB to be active from 1st to 20th September 2011 to commemorate the Battle of Britain. After running this station as a one-off for the 70th anniversary, the Pontefract & District Amateur Radio Society have now decided to keep it as an annual event to remember those who fought in the Battle of Britain. NCDXF - NW6P RETIRES Date: Monday, July 04, 2011 Effective immediately Tom McShane, NW6P, has resigned as a director and the secretary of NCDXF. Tom has been on the board of directors and its secretary for over 15 yrs. Tom suffered a serious stroke on January 25, 2011 and has been recuperating since then. Tom felt that his stroke rehabilitation would be a full time job for a number of months. The NCDXF board and officers wish Tom continuing great success in his recovery. PRESS RELEASE NUMBER 4 - July 5, 2011 The 4W6A team welcomes Bernd Länger, VK2IA, as the seventh and final member of the DXpedition. Bernd has joined the DXpedition in order to help balance the requirement for CW operation. He brings a wealth of DXpedition and contesting experience from Europe and the Asia-Pacific area. Also joining the team, although not in Timor-Leste itself, are Col McGowan, MM0NDX, and Kev Haworth, M0TNX. Col, who is the founder and editor of the DX World website [http://dx-world.net], has been appointed as pilot while Kev will be the assistant QSL manager to Tim, M0URX. Col will be responsible for providing feedback to the team on Atauro Island. >From IARU HF Championship rules: To contact as many other amateurs, especially IARU member society HQ stations, around the world as possible using the 160, 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 meter bands.
rules: 1) The award is issued by MK QTC (The Polish Radio Amateurs' Journal) Editor. 2) The purpose of this award is to maximize contacts with national IARU central stations all over the world, during the IARU HF Championship (July, 9-10 2011 r.). 3) The award is issued in two classes: Basic, for having at least 10 contacts with the HQ stations, i.e. AO8HQ, DA0HQ, GB5HQ, EM7HQ, SN0HQ, IU8HQ etc. Special, W-HQ-S Special Award, limited to top three operators worldwide, for having the highest number of HQ stations contacted during the Championship. Note: one HQ station counts per band and per mode, up to 12 times i.e. 1.8MHz-CW, 1.8MHz-SSB, 3.5MHz-CW, 3.7MHz-SSB, 7MHz-CW, 7MHz-SSB, 14MHz-CW, 14MHz-SSB, 21MHz-CW, 21MHz-SSB, 28MHz-CW - 28MHz-SSB. 4) A list of valid contacts should be submitted within 30 days after the Championship to the following address: qtc@post.pl 5) W-HQ-S Award may be issued in two formats: - High resolution print, with the applicant's individual call sign, original seal and Chief Editor signature, for a fee of 5 Euro or $7 USD. Until 8 July, GB0PLF will be on the air for the Pontefract Liquorice Festival. The station is located at Carleton Community Centre, leading up to the festival. On 9 July, GB0PH will be on the air for Pontefract Heritage. The station will be located at Pontefract Castle (CASHOTA G261, WAB SE42, WW Loc. IO93IQ) for a fun day at the Castle, organised by Pontefract Heritage Group.
