13/04/2012: From 13th April till 23rd April 2012 Michael, DB5MH, will be on a backcountry skiing trip on Spitsbergen Island (EU-026, WLOTA 0125), Svalbard archipelago, starting off from the Norwegian settlement of Longyearbyn towards the Russian mining village of Barentsburg and from there heading towards Van Miljenfjord and later returning back to Longyearbyn. During the trip he will use his solar powered QRP equipment (FT817 - 5W) to activate Svalbard on 20m at around 14315 Mhz, using the callsign JW/DB5MH. Skeds are at 1915, 2015, 2115 and 2215 UTC. 18/04/2012: Craig, VK8AS, has announced the he will be active as VK8BI from Bremer Island (OC-185) on 18-23 April, 2012. He will be running 400W into a Spiderbeam yagi for 10-12-15-17-20 on a 10m metre mast. Operation will be SSB only (although he will have the capability of running PSK31/RTTY at rare moments). OC-185 was last activated in 2004 for two days and prior to that in 1999 and is only claimed by 20% of IOTA program participants. A strong focus will be on North America and Europe. 19/04/2012: A team from the Caracas DX Group will be active as YX5P from the rare Patos Island (SA-048, DIV-068, WLOTA 0499, WW Loc. FK90BP) between 19-22 April, 2012. This is only the second expedition to take place from Patos, due to its remoteness and difficult access. The first DXpedition was made by the CDXG 21 years ago, making it the most requested and sought after IOTA in Venezuela. The team will operate on all HF bands and modes. QSL via DM4TI. 21/04/2012: The Telford & District Amateur Radio Society will be active as GB8MD for International Marconi Day on 21 April, 2012. 16/06/2012: [UPDATED] Richard, SM2TOS, and some other radio amateurs, using the callsign SE2EE, will make an expedition to the Lancaster bomber, which crashed at Porjus (WW Loc. JP97UA) in Sweden on 29 October 1944. The "Easy Elsie" Avro Lanchaster bomber Mk1 NF920 was one of 37 Lancaster bombers on mission to sink the German battleship Tirpitz in Norway 1944. 13/04/2012: This year sees the 100th anniversary of the Titanic disaster and the opening of Marconi's New Street Factory. Chelmsford Museum are holding an exhibition 'Marconi and the sea' to commemorate the events. The Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society (CARS) will be running the special event station GB100MWT during 13-15 April, 2012. 13/04/2012: The Southampton Amateur Radio Club (G3SOU and G8FAB) will be operating a Special Event Station GB1HMGY on the weekend 13th - 15th April 2012 from Mayflower Park, Southampton, to mark the 100th anniversary of the loss of the RMS Titanic. QSL via the information on QRZ.com.
13/04/2012: On April 18, 2012 Grupo DXXE will celebrate the World Amateur Radio Day on the 87th Anniversary of the founding of the International Amateur Radio Union, IARU. This year's theme for the World Amateur Radio Day is "Amateur Radio Satellites: Celebrating 50 Years in Space" in remembrance of the launching of OSCAR 1 on December 12, 1961 and the launch of OSCAR 2 on June 2, 1962. For this reason Grupo DXXE will activate the special callsign 6H6IARU from 13-18 April, 2012 on all bands from 160 to 6 metres and of course amateur radio satellites from different Grid Locators throughout Mexico. 14/04/2012: Cork Harbour, Ireland (EU-115, WLOTA 2484), was the last port of call of the RMS Titanic on her maiden and final voyage. EI100T is another special callsign to commemorate the Titanic Centenery, and it will be used throughout 2012 by members of the Cork Radio Club. 14/04/2012: Special event callsign DT12AWC will be activated on 14-30 April for the 2012 Asian Weightlifting Championships to be held in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, Sudogwon Region, South Korea (Grid Loc. 14/04/2012: Blackwood & District Amateur Radio Society (GW6GW) in partnership with the Candle Workshops based at Gelligroes Mill will commemorate the sinking of the RMS Titanic 100 years Centenary in 2012. Gelligroes Mill, where Artie Moore was the first land based radio receiver to hear the SOS signal from RMS Titanic. GB100GGM has been granted by OFCOM for this event. The event will start at 0000 AM 14th April thru to 1800 on the 15th April, 2012. There will be two stations in operation, CW and SSB, on all bands (SORRY NO PLANNED DATA). 15/04/2012: VI4MGY is a special event callsign for the 100 year centenery of the sinking of the Titanic. Operation is to be held at South Bank near the Queensland Maritime Museum, South Bank, Brisbane, Australia (OC-001, WLOTA 1520). The event will be held on the 15th of April 2012, with the help of the Redcliffe and Districts Radio Club. MGY was the call sign of the ill-fated ship. 15/04/2012: The Dover Amateur Radio Club will be running special event station GB2ICE, all day on the 15th of April, in honour of Jack Phillips Chief Marconi Wireless Operator aboard the RMS Titanic. The HK0NA QSL design has been completed and they are in the process of being printed. We expect delivery by the end of April.
Our QSL Manager N2OO is posting QSL processing updates online at www.sjdxa.org/hk0na.htm. Watch this link for QSL updates.
Please understand that this QSL operation will take time to process. Please be patient. It is anticipated that cards should START to go out in the May-June timeframe.
Cards will NOT be mailed all at once. They will be going out slowly as they are processed.
