YP6EPC On The Air Again - YP6EPC is active on PSK from 23rd May to 31st December, 2011. This year the station is operated by the Alexandru family from Medias. Operators are - Adrian Alexandru, YO6CVA (OM) and Rodica Alexandru, YO6OXP (XYL). Medias is the second largest city in Sibiu County (EU Area EU.RO.SB), Transylvania, Romania. Medias has one of the best preserved historical centers in Romania and also some well preserved medieval fortifications. One of the most impressive symbols of the town is the Tower of the Buglers, which is about 70 metres tall. Its construction started in the 13th century. The city lies in the middle of the area which was inhabited by Transylvanian Saxons and in an area of 20km around it there are dozens of fortified churches, two of them UNESCO World heritage sites. The most important location references are - Grid Locator: KN26ED; EU Area: EU.RO.SB (Sibiu); and DXDA-3585. QSL cards should be sent via YO5OO (ex YO6AJI). [MM0DFV] -------------------- SA-045 AMAPÁ STATE - Orlando, PT2OP, and Fred PY2XB report they have received authorization from the environmental authorities of the State of Amapá to the DXpedition to the Bailique Archipelago, IOTA SA-045, DIB AP-01, ARLHS BRA-009, WLOTA L-1123 and DFB AP-04. The operation is expected during the second fortnight of August. Callsigns will be PQ8OP (QSL via PT2OP) and PQ8XB (QSL via PT7WA). [PT7WA] -------------------- SOUTH AFRICA - BOTSWANA
I will be going over to South Africa-Botswana in September and if any one would like to operate from Botswana for a week or 10 days they can contact me. I will be setting up antennas at a new lodge and their web page is www.lotsane.com. I most likely will be there or going there around the 17th. I can meet anyone at the airport in Johannesburg or in Gaborone Botswana.
