19/08/2011:  The Radio Club Uruguayo will be active as CW1R from Punta del Este
Lighthouse (ARLHS URU-008, Admiralty G0682), Bay of Maldonado, Uruguay, on 19-21
August for the ILLW. Plans are to have at least two stations active on 80-10
metres CW, SSB and digital modes. QSL via bureau, or direct to CX1AA (Radio Club

19/08/2011:  Operators Ki-Sun HL4MC, Gyeong HL4CEL, Wang-hyun HL4RBR, Kei
HL2UVH, Eun-Gwang DS4EOI, Nao JA1HGY and Zorro JH1AJT will be active as D9A from
Cheju Island [Cheju Do] (IOTA AS-026, WLOTA 0686, KDN M11, WW Loc. PM33GM) from
19-26th August 2011. This special callsign will be used during the 20th Asian
Conference on Intellectual Disabilities from the Ramada Plaza Jeju Hotel.
Activity will be on 160-10 metres, 6 and 2 metres, using CW, SSB, RTTY and FM.

19/08/2011:  Bruce, ZL1AAO, plans to be active holiday style as E51AAO from the
island of Rarotonga (IOTA OC-013), South Cook Islands, from 19-28th August 2011.
The property he will be staying at is located on Muri beach, a popular resort
area. QRV on the HF bands when time permits - tourist activities come first. QSL

19/08/2011:  A large group of operators from the Telford and District Amateur
Society will be active as GP3ZME/p from the isle of Guernsey (IOTA EU-114, WLOTA
0013, Grid Loc. IN89) on 19-24 August. They plan to be QRV on 80-10 metres, as
well as on 6 and 2m and the SHF bands. QSL via G3ZME, bureau preferred. [425 DX

19/08/2011:  Aki, JA1NLX, is planning to operate as JA1NLX/VK4 from Lizard
Island (IOTA OC-187) on 19-23 August, 2011. Lizard Island is located about 240Km
north of Cairns, Queensland. He plans to be QRV for three or four days in August
on HF CW and SSB. Exact details are not fixed yet. []

19/08/2011:  Taka, JA8COE, is currently active the island of Yagishiri (IOTA
AS-147, WLOTA 2512), Hokkaido Prefecture, Rumoi Subprefecture, Tomamae District,
as JA8COE/8 until 20 August 2011. QSL via home call ( The island
(Yagishiri To) is most notable for the beauty of its nature. Much of the islands
surface is covered with untouched forests, especially of Taxus cuspidata, the
Japanese Yew. Thus, it was designated a part of Shokanbetsu-Teuri-Yagishiri
Quasi-National Park (WFF JAFF-034). []

19/08/2011:  Look for Jari OH1BOI, Sral OH1W and Hannu OH1JJO to be active from
the island of Vormo (IOTA EU-097, WW Loc. KP20CA, OHC208 Inkoo), using the
callsigns OH1AV/2 and OH1N/p, from 19-21 August 2011. QRV on all HF bands,

19/08/2011:  Members of the Hellenic Amateur Radio Association of Australia

others will be active as VK2CL from the Montague Island (IOTA OC-223) Lighthouse
(ILLW AU0071, ARLHS AUS-110, TWLHD WLH VK-049, WLOTA 0722, Admiralty K2576, WW
Loc. QF53CR), New South Wales, Australia, from 19-22 August. Activity is mainly

19/08/2011:  Operators Trevor VK3ATX, Dan VK3DWH, Mick VK3CH and Urey VK3ATA are
currently active as homecall/p from Gabo Island (IOTA OC-196) and lighthouse
(ILLW AU0080, ARLHS AUS-078, TWLHD WLH VK-031, WLOTA 1031, WW Loc. QF42WK) until
21st August 2011. This will include an entry in the International
Lighthouse-Lightship Weekend (20-21 August), using the callsign VK3ATX. Plans

active as CR5LSV from the Cape Sao Vicente lighthouse (ILLW PT0011, ARLHS

Alentejano and Costa Vicentina Nature Park (DPRN FF-012, WFF CTFF-012), for the

20/08/2011:  Carlos CT1CSY, Jose CT1GZB and Rafael CT2JXT will be active as
CR6LH from the Cabo da Roca lighthouse (ILLW PT0015, ARLHS POR-007, DFP FES-01,
Admiralty D2108), Sintra-Cascais Nature Park (DPRN FF-011, WFF CTFF-011) for the
ILLW (20-21 August). They plan to operate SSB, RTTY, PSK31 and QRS CW on the HF

20/08/2011:  The Association of Radioamadores of the Village of Moscavide (ARVM)
will be activate as CS2HNI from the premises of the lighthouse (ILLW PT-0012,
DFP FES-12, ARLHS POR-021 at Forte do Cavalo - Sesimbra (DCFP F-038, DMHP
ST-028, WCA CT-00214) during the International Lighthouse-Lightship Weekend
(20-21 August). QRV on 40, 20, 15 and 10 metre SSB. QSL saw CT1RVM, bureau

20/08/2011:  A few hams from the Clubstation VFDB e. V. Ortsverband Moers -
Kreis Wesel Z63, Duisburg, Germany, will test several monoband verticals
(80m-10m) as DL0M using large kites flying up to 100m high. Listen for DL0M in
CW, SSB and digital modes on the 20th and 21st of August 2011. Reports are

20/08/2011:  From 20 until 22 August, Geoff MM5AHO and crew (ILLW UK0122) will
operate maritime mobile from a 10m yacht on Scotland's west coast visiting
inaccessible lighthouses. This year prime target destinations are Skerryvore
(BARLS A4096, ARLHS SCO-060, TWLHD WLH GM-021, WLOTA 1453, WAB NL82), which is
12 miles off Tiree (EU-008, IOSA NH04, SCOTIA DI10) in the Atlantic, and Dubh
Artach [pronounced "doob arr-tack"] (BARLS A4098, ARLHS SCO-060, TWLHD WLH
GM-021, WLOTA 1453, WAB NM10) 15 miles off the isle of Colonsay (EU-008, IOSA
NH19, SCOTIA DI05). Both are rock mounted Stevenson built lights and both are
subject to heavy weather. Sixty foot waves have been measured at Dubh Artach, so
both operations are strictly weather permitting. In the event of poor weather, a
series of lesser, but never-before-activated lighthouses will be visited.
Equipment on board comprises an FT-857, running 100W into an antenna formed by
the insulated backstay of the yacht's mast, plus two verticals. It is hoped to
land on each rock, but radio operations are unsafe ashore so they will be

20/08/2011:  During the International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend (August
20-21st) the special callsign PG6HK will be active from the old lighthouse in
Harderwijk [aka De Vischpoort](ILLW NL0038, ARLHS NET-162), Netherlands. The
team will be active on several modes on HF and VHF. Operators include Cil
PA1RBZ, Gert PA2LO, Michel PD0JMB, Ben PD0PDB and Jack PD2J. QSL via PA2LO,

20/08/2011:  Look for the PG6N team to be active on 20-21 August 2011 for the
International Lighthouse-Lightship Weekend from the Noordwijk Lighthouse (ILLW

20/08/2011:  Lee, F5MUX, will once again be active as TK5UX from the island of
Corsica (IOTA EU-014, DIFM TK-001, MIA MCO-001, WLOTA 1390) between 20 August

20/08/2011:  The Great South Bay ARC will be operating as W2GSB/LH from the Fire
Island (IOTA NA-026, USi NY013S) lighthouse (ILLW US0019, ARLHS USA-286, TWLHD
WLH K-060, WLOTA 1922), Suffolk County, New York, for the International
Lighthouse-Lightship Weekend (20-21 August). The operators will be Walter
KA2CAQ, Bob K2TV, John K2IZ, Alice KC2VLV, Bill W2ANQ, Joe KC2RJW, Pete WB2OQQ,

20/08/2011:  A team of operators from the Radio Club Provincial Chiloe (CE7BLI)
will be active as XR7F from the Punta Corona lighthouse (ILLW CL0020, ARLHS

ICE-701) on 20-21 August for the International Lighthouse Lightship Weekend.

Kure Beach, North Carolina, Grid FM13 during the September 2011 VHF Contest
(10-12 September) on 6 & 2 metres. 5 elements on 6 and 13 on 2 with a Kenwood
TS-2000. Also operating from FM14 between 21 August and 23 September (except for

21/08/2011:  Anja, DH2AK and Torsten, DL1THM will be active as PJ2/homecall from
the island of Curacao (IOTA SA-099, WLOTA 0942) between 21 August and 8

21/08/2011:  Sam, DL5RDO, will be active from the Seychelles between 21 August
and 6 September 2011. He will be active as S79DO from La Digue Island (WLOTA
3066) until 2 September and after that from the main island of Mahe (WLOTA 3286,
both IOTA AF-024). QRV on 40-10 metres, mainly CW, using a Elecraft K2 w/100
watts and a vertical, and possibly some dipoles, depending on the location.
Note: The 40m band starts at 7050 kHz. So please look for Sam at 7055 kHz +/- on

21/08/2011:  Fred, SM7DAY, plans to activate the island of Senoren (IOTA EU-138)
as SM7DAY/p from 21-28 August 2011. Look for activity around the usual IOTA and

21/08/2011:  Hans, ON6ZK, will be active as TA4/homecall from Lara, Turkey,
between 21st and 30th August 2011. This will be a QRP operation, using a K1 at 5
Watts, to a quarter wave vertical. His main frequency and mode will be 14.060

22/08/2011:  Lance, W7GJ, will activate a 6m EME DXpedition, using the callsign
5W0GJ, from the northeast corner of Savai'i Island (IOTA OC-097, WLOTA 4026, WW
Loc. AH36un), Samoa, during the final week of August, 2011. The 6m equipment is
essentially be the same as that used at E51SIX in spring of 2009 and 3D2LR in
the fall of 2010. The transceiver will be his K3 with low noise PR6 receive
preamplifier. The antenna again is his 6M8GJ yagi fed with LMR600 low loss cable
and used with his homebrew manual elevation mount. Lance also plans to use his
6M-1000 amplifier. For EME, he plans to operate on 50.190 and transmit in the
first sequence JT65A mode. If there are changes from this, he will try to get

22/08/2011:  Ben, DO1BEN and Barbara, DO1IQ will once again be active as
PD/homecalls from De Cocksdorp, Texel Island (IOTA EU-038, WLOTA 0043 WW Loc.

25/08/2011:  Five operators from Oahu will travel to the Kalaupapa, Molokai
peninsula, island of Molokai (IOTA OC-019, USi HI015S, WLOTA 1045) and Kalawao
County, the site of Kalaupapa National Historical Park (WFF KFF-043) where
Hawaii residents and others who were afflicted with leprosy (today called
Hansen's disease) were exiled. The team will be there from 25-29 August 2011,
operating up to 2 stations on 40-10 metre SSB and CW in the Hawaii QSO Party
(27-28 August). Before and after the contest they may be on WARC bands as time

28/08/2011:  Helmut DM2BPG, Erich DL2HUC and Sig DL1HSI will be active on the
28th of August 2011 from the Castle of Querfurt (WCA DL-02328, COTA-DL SAB-197

31/08/2011:  Bob, W3BTX, will be in Aruba (IOTA SA-036, WLOTA 0033) from 31
August to 7 September 2011 for a vacation style operation. He will operate

01/09/2011:  George, K3GV, will be staying on Prince Edward Island (IOTA NA-029,

02/09/2011:  Nao, JA1HGY, will be active from Aland Island (IOTA EU-002, WFF
OHFF-037, WLOTA 1373) as OH0HG from 2-4 September 2011. QRV on all HF bands,
using CW, SSB and RTTY. Nao-san will also participate in the All Asian DX Phone
Contest (3-4 September). He will also sign OH0HG/OH2 before and after OH0. His
visit to Finland is to celebrate their long term friendship with Martti, OH2BH,

09/09/2011:  Gert, ZS6AYU, will once again be active from Jwaneng, Botswana, as
A25/ZS6AYU from 9-12 September 2011. Focus will be on the HF bands, using mostly

11/09/2011:  Wessex Contest Group (MX0WCB) members Dave M0SFT, Simon M0TTE and
Dan M0TGN will be active from the Isle of St. Martin's, Isles of Scilly (IOTA
EU-011) from 11-17 September 2011, using the club callsign MX0WCB. The team will
be operating mainly QRP, on 40m, 20m, 17m, 15m and 10m throughout the week. They

22/09/2011:  Ruggero IK2PZC (5C2P), Leo I8LWL (5C2L), Fred IK7JWX (5C2J), Simon
IZ7ATN (5C2SG), Ampelio IS0AGY (5C2B) Mounaim CN8QY (CN8QY/p) and Belkaid CN8QX
(CN8QX/p) will be active from Dakhla city (WW Loc. IL23AQ) and lighthouse (ARLHS
WSA-001), which is part of the National Park of the coast of Dakhla (WFF
CNFF-007), Morocco, from 22-29 September 2011. The main purpose of the
DXpedition is to activate Herne Island (IOTA AF-068, WW Loc. IL23CU), South
Western Sahara, as 5C2 personal calls /P. Plans are to be QRV using all modes on
the HF bands, WARC bands and 6 metres. The team might try an entry in the CQWW
DX RTTY Contest (24-25 September) using the callsign 5C2P. QSL via their home

20/10/2011:  Wlodek, SP6EQZ and Janusz, SP6IXF will once again be active from
the islands of St. Eustatius (IOTA NA-145, WFF PAFF-025, WLOTA 1851) and Saba
(IOTA NA-145, WFF PAFF-027, WLOTA 2043) between 20 October and 3 November 2011,
using the callsigns PJ5/SP6EQZ and PJ5/SP6IXF. Plans are to be QRV on all HF

16/12/2011:  Norman, 5B4AIF, will be active as V31NB from the V31MD shack in

02/01/2012:  Tonio F4ACR, Christophe F4CRE, Denis F4DNU, Jean-Paul F5OQK,

islet, Salut Islands (IOTA SA-020, WLOTA 0911) from 2-7 January 2012. Expect

21/03/2012:  Hartwig, DL7BC, will be active from Mayotte Island (IOTA AF-027,
DIFO FH-001, WLOTA 0376) between 21 March and 6 April 2012 as FH/DL7BC. This

19/08/2011:  Special event station ZL4RUGBY will be active between 19th August
and 31st October 2011 from the South Island of New Zealand (IOTA OC-134, WLOTA
0342) for the 2011 Rugby World Cup (, which will be held
in various locations of New Zealand between 9 September and 23 October. Expect

20/08/2011:  From 20th August, for 20 days, GB0PAS will be aired for the
Pontefract Astronomical Society. A special event station to mark the visit of Sy
Liebergot, NASA Flight Controller who is giving a talk at Carleton Community
High School: "Apollo 13: The longest hour" on 10th September at 18:00-19:00. QSL

20/08/2011:  Members of the Otley Amateur Radio Society will be operating
special event station GB0YAA on 20-21 August 2011 in support of the Yorkshire
Air Ambulance Charity, which provides a rapid response air emergency service

25/08/2011:  Special event station UM20Y will be active from 25 August to 10
September 2011 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the indipendent Republic of

NCDXF is pleased to announce that G. Kip Edwards W6SZN is the new Secretary
of NCDXF effective August 1, 2011.

Kip rejoined NCDXF as a director approximately two years ago and replaces
Tom McShane, NW6P, who resigned for health reasons.

The board and officers of NCDXF are pleased that Kip would take on these
added responsibilities.
