islands around the Hokkaido (IOTA AS-147) coastline: 28-29 July from Rishirifuji
Town, Rishiri Island (WLOTA 2760); 30-31 July from Rebun Town, Rebun Island
(WLOTA 2805); 1-2 August from Rishiri Town, Rishiri Island (WLOTA 2760); 4-5
August from Haboro Town, Teuri Island (WLOTA 2621); 6-7 August from Haboro Town,
Yagishiri Island (WLOTA 2512). Activity will be on 40-6m CW, RTTY, PSK31, JT65A.

29/07/2011: On Friday, 29 July 2011 - all day - Paul GM0BKC/p will be
activating Dunvegan Castle (CASHOTA GM-068, WAB NG24, WW Loc. IO67RK), on the
Isle of Sky (IOTA EU-008, IOSA NH07, SCOTIA CN14, WLOTA 1626), Scotland.
Dunvegan Castle is the oldest continuously inhabited castle in Scotland. And has
been the stronghold of the chiefs of Macleod for nearly 800 years. The castle is
built upon a rock. And was first opened to the public in 1933. QSL via home

Waterways Festival, Shobnall Fields, Burton on Trent on 29 to 31 July 2011. A

Waterways museum at Goole; GB2FIP at the Foxton Inclined Plane museum and GB4HSC

30/07/2011: GB2HR is a UK Special Event station celebrating the 70th
Anniversary of the opening of RAF Hurn. This happened on the 1st of August 1941.
GB2HR is operated by G8NSV (a RAFARS Member), and is a RAFARS Airfield On The
Air Station. GB2HR will operate between 30th July and 2nd August 2011, from
Bournemouth Aviation Museum, on 80-10, 6 and 2 metres. The GB2HR station is
located in an old RAF "runway caravan" (mobile control tower) which was recently
used by the Airport as an Emergency facility before becoming surplus to
requirements, and now having been donated to the Bournemouth Aviation Museum The
station location in the runway caravan has a view over much of the airfield with
most of the runway being visible. Station equipment comprises a Yaesu FT-ONE,

After more than a week of quiet, solar activity is picking up with the
emergence of two large sunspot groups on the sun's northeastern limb. The active
regions are crackling with C and M class solar flares. So far none of the
eruptions has been squarely Earth directed, but that could change in the days

I am in the unfortunate position to report that SV1OE has passed away at the
age of 65 following his battle with the terrible disease. We had the pleasure to
be close prior to my moonbounce journey and neighbors for 9 years. He was the
first to pioneer from SV on EME, in 1982 on 2m and in 1992 on 23cm. A homebrewer
in the true sense of the word 6m-3cm, loved to experiment on new projects.
Assisting amateurs, passionate with ham radio and courageous in life. In memory,

VP6T - PITCAIRN ISLAND 2012
A team consisting of F6BEE Jacques, G3TXF Nigel, VE2TZT Gilles, FM5CD Michel
and F4BKV Vincent are pleased to announce a major new DXpedition to CQ Zone 32 -
and the famous, mythical Pitcairn Island in the heart of the Pacific Ocean.
Efforts will be made to give this extremely rare entity to deserving DXers on as
many bands as possible, but especially on the low bands. The team plan to be
