Erik PD5EK and Jan PE1MPA will be active as PG6MILL from the mill "De Valk",
located in Montfoort (WW Loc. JO22LB), Province of Utrecht, the Netherlands,
between 30 September and 1 October 2011. They plan to operate on 80-10 metres
all modes, and to use a full size quad antenna to be mounted on the arms of the

30/09/2011: Trevor, VK8TH, is now active (PSK31 so far) from the Comms Building
on Macquarie Island (IOTA AN-005, WAP AUS-08, WFF VKFF-566, WW Loc. QD95LM) as
VK0TH. QRV 80-6m using a Yaesu FT-897 and 5 band vertical / 40m dipole. QSL via

30/09/2011: A team of eight operators consisting of Chris VK3QB (Team Leader,
FISTS #9085), Luke VK3HJ (FISTS #9697), Ian VK3BUF, Dianne VK3JDI, Lee VK3GK,
Tom NQ7R, Ben N6MUF and Andy M0HLT will be active as YJ0VK from Nirvan Resort,
Port Vila on Efate Island, Vanuatu, New Hebrides (IOTA OC-035, WW Loc. RH42DF)
between 30 September to 12 October 2011. They plan to operate three stations as
often as possible, on 160-10 metres, with emphasis on the WARC bands. Activity
on 60 metres has also been confirmed. Modes will be SSB, CW and RTTY/PSK31. QSL

01/10/2011: Seb, F8IJV, is making plans to be in Fiji during October 2011
(dates are not final yet). Activity will be limited to his free time (this will
not be a DXpedition). He has received his license and will use the callsign
3D2JV. Seb will be active from the QTH of Tony, 3D2AG, located in the capital
city of Suva, on the island of Viti Levu (OC-016, WLOTA L-0055, Grid Loc. RH91),
Fiji. He plans to be QRV on 160-6 metres, mainly on SSB and FM on 10 metres, and
possibly some Digital modes. Seb also plans to participate to the 2011 CQWW DX
SSB Contest (29-30 October) while there. If it is possible he may go to Rotuma
(OC-060) by plane, if it is not too expensive. He would like to operate a few
days from there. The equipment to be used will be an Yaesu FT-450, 5 band
Spiderbeam, and three vertical antennas for the 160/80/40 metre bands (possibly

01/10/2011: Laurent, F8FSC/p will activate the French Mill reference DMF 39-062
(old spinning mill) on 1 October, 2011. His friend Michel F8GGZ will be along to
do the logging. The mill is located in the commune of Balanod (CP 39160), canton
of St Amour (DDCF 39-25), Department Jura/39 and Province Franche-Conte (DPF

03/10/2011: Bodo, DF8DX (ex-DL3OCH), will be in Abuja (WW Loc. JJ16SN),
Nigeria, from 3-15 October, 2011, for maintenance (work) of the broadcasting
station based there. Operating using one of the largest fully rotatable short
wave antennas in the world. His antenna gain will be over 20dBi on all bands

04/10/2011: Willi, DJ7RJ, will be operating from Reunion Island (IOTA AF-016,

hopes to focus on the low bands, running a K2 and a 500 Watt amplifier into an

05/10/2011: Operators Helge DF6LPC, Ulrich DJ9IE, Siggi DL3HBZ, Lothar DL8HAL

06/10/2011: Kan, JE1SCF, a member of the Tokyo Dental College ARC, will be
active as JE1SCF/JR6 from the Yaeyama Islands [archipelago] (IOTA AS-024),

his visit is to establish and provide medical/dental care to the islands, so

05/11/2011: The Guelph Amateur Radio Club is once again setting up a special
event station at the birthplace of Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae House in
Guelph Ontario. John McCrae was the author of the poem "In Flanders Fields". The
special event station, in honour of peace and remembrance, will operate from the
McCrae House Museum from 5-11 November, 2011. They will be operating with the
call sign VA3IF on 80, 40, 20 and 15 metres, as well as IRLP, node 2260. QSL via

Pool of London, in October 1971, the London Group of the RNARS will be active as

01/10/2011: This year Justices of the Peace in England and Wales are
celebrating their 650th anniversary of serving the community (1361-2011). The

MS Propagation info from MMMonVHF for October -
This month the attention of meteor enthusiasts will be captured by the return
of Draconids meteor shower. In fact, several Researchers have forecasted an
Outburst of Draconids on October 8th. Even if no meteor storm is expected, there
is a general consensus that the evening UT hours of October 8 should produce
ramarkable Draconids activity. Many mathematical models predict the outburst
around 20h UT, but the ZHR level is hard to predict, though. Usual Orionids
shower and a good background of sporadic meteors will ensure good opportunities
for MS Dxing the rest of the month. Have a look to shower predictions for

LIBERIA: The VooDoo Contest Group will enter the CQWW CW contest this November
for the 23rd straight year. This time we will be located just South of Monrovia,
the capital of Liberia, call-sign EL2A (QSL via G3SXW), multi-multi category.

DXpedition to Namibia, March 2012 (ops wanted) -

"I’m planning to run a DXpedition to Namibia next March. Our host is Andre V51B
in Orangemund in Southern Namibia. The plan is to fly into Cape Town at the
beginning of March and spend a few days there sight seeing - Table Mountain,
Robin Island, wine tasting in the Stellenbosch area etc. We would then hire
vehicles and drive up the west coast to Orangemund for 10 days operating prior
to putting an entry in for CQ WPX SSB which is 24th/25th March. There would be
the opportunity to do some sight seeing in Namibia. Return home via Cape Town."

YA, AFGHANISTAN - Les, WB8LES, is a pilot based in the FOB (Forward Operation
Base) Shank in Loghar province of Afghanistan. He is expected to show up as T6LB
in October using an Icom 7000 and a sloper antenna by AES. Times and frequencies
