Southern Sudan Government officials now understand amateur radio, and
they are ready to change the actual rules and regulations as soon as

that everyone can enjoy amateur radio in this new country.
We have the cooperation of both Ministries to update our license if
there is a new prefix that will be assigned by ITU, and we'll be in
permanent contact with the proper department helping in the development
of amateur radio in Southern Sudan.
Our Dxpedition will start on July 9th from Juba so please stay tuned.

LAST MINUTE UPDATES (Pirate Alert). Prasad, VU2PTT, reports: "VU4PB was
hit by a noticeable pirate operation on 40m CW between 1527 to 1817z on
16th March 2011. This was at a time when the 40m CW station had gone
off air at 1527z.  Please notify DXers that their QSOs with VU4PB made
during the above period was by a Slim Op. We understand the pain this
news will cause, and hope they can make QSOs on 40m with the real VU4PB
soon.... We would also like to say that three of our key operators have
been unable to join us at VU4PB as planned due to health and family
issues, and we have been working hard to fill the gaps with the operators
 that we have."

XV2/XV4, VIETNAM. Mal, VK6LC, will once again be returning to Vietnam
between April 10-25th. This will be a dedicated culture tour of northern
Vietnam, but he plans to be active from two different locations using
 two callsign:
XV2LC - April 10-15th; from Ho Chi Min City
 XV4LC - April 20-25th; from Mekong Delta
Activity will be on 20 meters using CW and SSB. QSL via VK6LC only
direct. He does NOT use the QSL Bureau.

YJ, VANUATU (Want to go on a DXpedition?). Chris, VK3QB, reports that
the members of the "Oceania Amateur Radio DX Group" (ODXG) are planning
to go to Vanuatu again, but this time look for operators to join the
fun and some sightseeing. Plans are to arrive in Port Vila on September
28th, to get set up. Then operate the 2 contest weekends, with relaxed
DXpedition operations between October 3-7th - another 2-3 days of relaxed
operations following the CW Contest, then leave Vanuatu on October 14th.
Plans are still developing and depending on interest, ODXG will run
multiple stations from two separate locations on the island of Efate
(Port Vila) which is just a 4 hour flight from Melbourne. Any interested
people should register with Chris, VK3QB. Please provide a brief overview
of your interests, any relevant or special skills (many skills contribute
to a successful DXpedition) that may be useful for the trip. Send via
 E-mail to vk3qb@wia.org.au or call 0429 187 593.
