9N, NEPAL (Update). A multi-national team, all members of Mediterraneo
DX Club (MDXC), will be active as 9N0MD from Nepal during November.
Operators mentioned are Dov/4Z4DX, Ziv/4Z4OQ, Marco/CE6TBN, Gabriele/
I2VGW, Pino/I8YGZ, Dario/IT9SSI, Antonello/IT9YVO, Al/IV3BSY, Giuliano/

A2 & ZA, BOTSWANA AND SOUTH AFRICA. Frosty, K5LBU, will once again be
heading back to Africa and is looking for operators. He states, "I will
be going over to South Africa-Botswana in September and if any one would
like to operate from Botswana for a week or 10 days they can contact me.

AT8, INDIA (Special Event). Members of the Bangalore Amateur Radio Club
(VU2ARC) have activated the first special event station from India from
the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technology Museum in Bangalore. Look
for AT8VTM to be active until June 27th. Activity is taking place during
the 10th International Museum Weekend 2011. Details of the Musuem is

C9, MOZAMBIQUE.  Operators Dave/ZR6DG and Helge/ZS6HB will be active as
C92DG from the Timbavati Game Reserve in Tofo between July 14-28th.

IOTA NEWS...............................
  AF-008.  Alex, IW3SGT, will be active as EA8/IW3SGT from Fuerteventura
           Island between June 21st and July 3rd. Activity will be during
           his evening hours on SSB and PSK. QSL via his home callsign,
           by the Bureau, eQSL (AG) and LoTW.

  AF-018.  Franco/IK4YCQ is now active as IH9/IK4YCQ from Pantelleria
           Island until June 23rd. Activity will be on the HF bands
           SSB only. QSL via his home callsign.

  EU-008.  Operators Graham/MM0GHM, Gordon/MM0GOR, Peter/GM7AAJ and
           Allan/2M0VNW will be active as GM7A from Gigha Island, part
           of the Hebridean Islands, during the RSGB IOTA Contest (July
           30-31st), as a Multi-Op entry. QSL via GM7AAJ direct.

  EU-016.  Pontus, SM0RUX, will be active as 9A/SM0R from Hvar Island
           (ACIA IC-668, CIA-13, IOCA CI-028, MIA MC-132, WLOTA 1206)
           between July 10-15th. Activity will be holiday style and
           from different beaches mainly during daytime! QSL via SM0RUX,

  EU-120.  Members of the Newbury and District Amateur Radio Society
           (NADARS) will once again be active as G7N from Isle of Wight
           during the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 30-31st), as a Multi-Op
           entry. Operators mentioned are Ray/G4FON, Colin/M0DDT, Richard/

  EU-124.  Roger, MW0IDX, will be active as homecall/p from Puffin Island
           (WFF EIFF-047), Ireland, on June 27th. Activity will depend
           on the weather because he is travelling to the island by kayak.
           Operations will be mostly 20 meters SSB, higher bands if open.

  EU-135.  Anders, SM5EFX, will be active as SF2X/p from Ledskar Island
           (WLOTA 0291) between July 1st and August 1st. Activity will
           be on all HF bands and modes. He will also participate in the

  EU-136.  Massimo, IZ5LDD, will be active as 9A/homecall from Losinj
           Island (ACIA IC-116, CIA-25, IOCA CI-058, MIA MC-204, WLOTA
           4295) between June 19-27th. Activity will be on or near the
           IOTA frequencies using SSB and the Digital modes. QSL via

  EU-136.  Dante, IK5ASN, will be active as 9A8ASN from the Cres Island
           (ACIA-90, CIA-06, IOCA CI-012, MIA MC-056, WLOTA 0553) between
           July 13-30th. Activity will be on all HF bands, propagation

  EU-137.  Lars, SM6CUK, will be active as SA6G/7 from Ven Island (WLOTA
           0780) between July 28th and August 1st. Activity will include
           participation in the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 30-31st). QSL via

  EU-177.  Bernd, DL8AAV, will be active as SD1B/5 from Aspoja Island
           between June 19th and July 1st. Activity will be on the HF
           bands, mostly SSB and CW. QSL via his home callsign direct

  NA-026.  Yigal, K2EFG, is once again active as K2EFG/p from Fire Island
           (USI NY013S, Suffolk County, New York) and the lighthouse
           (ARLHS USA-286, TWLHD WLH K-060, WLOTA LH 1922) until June
           23rd. Activity will be mainly on 40/20 meters, but he may go
           to 15/10 meters if the conditions allow. Yigal will use a
           FT-857 (w/75-100 watts) into a Buddipole antenna on the eastern
           part of the island. There may be a time when Yigal will be
           directing a YP3 Yagi to the west (in-land). He will only be
           able to operate for 3-4 hours as there is no power available
           at the dunes where he can set up an antenna. QSL via his home

  NA-112.  Todd, N4LA, will be active as N4LA/p from a beach house on
           Bogue Banks (USI NC010S, Carteret County, North Carolina)
           between June 19-25th. Activity will be limited to his free
           time, but look for him on 40/20/17/15/12/10 meter SSB. He will
           be using a Yaesu FT-857D w/100 watts into a Par End Fedz and
           Shock Cord Vertical. There will be the possibility of actual
           oceanside beach operations (if time permits) using a battery

  NA-213.  Joe, K5KUA, will be active as K5KUA/4 from Dauphin Island
           (USI AL002S, Mobile County, Alabama) between July 4-10th.
           Activity will be holiday style on the HF bands, propagation

  SA-045.  (Update) Operators Orlando/PT2OP and Fred/PY2XB plan to activate
           an island in the Amapa State Group, in August, during the second
           fortnight (second week). Rony/PS7AB and Luciano/PT7WA, informed
           OPDX this past week that Orlando/PT2OP and Fred/PY2XB have
           received authorization from the environmental authorities
           of the State of Amapá to have a DXpedition to the Bailique
           Archipelago (DIB AP-01, ARLHS BRA-009, WLOTA L-1123 and DFB
           AP-04) and lighthouse. The Amapá State is in the extreme
           northern part of Brazil, and the islands in SA-045 are located
           in the northern hemisphere. Amapá has few hams, and the state
           is highly requested by colleagues who wish to achieve the
           diploma "Worked All Brazil" (WAB). It has been a long time
           since an Island in IOTA  SA-045 was activated. The islands
           are part of a biological reserves under environmental pro-
           tection. The second fortnight of August was chosen due to the
           HF propagation forecast, the climate conditions of the region
           and the moon season which affects the sea tide and the op-
           portunities to reach the islands. The callsigns will be PQ8OP
           (QSL via PT2OP) and PQ8XB (QSL via PT7WA). More details will
           be forthcoming.

J2, DJIBOUTI. John, F4FUC, will be active as J28UC from Djibouti starting
in July and will stay there until 2013. Activity will be on 40-10 meters
using a TS-480 w/100 watts into a vertical (20/15/10m) and dipole
(40/20/10m) antenna. QSL via his home callsign.

J6, ST. LUCIA. Howard, WB4WXE, will be active as J68HS from St. Lucia
Island (NA-108) between June 25th and July 15th. Activity will be on
160/40/17/12/6 meters. QSL via his home callsign.

PACIFIC DX NET REVIVAL. Bill, VK4FW, informs OPDX of the "re-commencement
of 'THE PACIFIC DX NET'". The net will be on the air from 0600z every
Monday-Wednesday-Friday [UTC day] on 14.265 MHz [plus-minus QRM]. The
primary Net Control is VK4AN, with alternates assisting. It is a net
for members, DXpeditions and rare DX. Check-in are only accepted from
these categories. If you wish to become a member of the 'PACIFIC DX NET',
send your CALLSIGN and NAME to vk4an@pacific-dxers.com and a number
will be assigned commencing from 501. Pacific DXer members are auto-

SILENT KEY. Peter, HB9PL, informs OPDX that Pierre Pasteur, HB9QQ, became
a "Silent Key" (SK) on Saturday, June 11th, after a short but ferocious
illness at the age of 80. Peter states, "Pierre was a multi-faceted Ham
who was not only a seasoned DX’er but a highly regarded expert in VHF/UHF
work and the 'magic band'. He was author of numerous technical papers
and a book about VHF/UHF 'Operating Modes and Techniques'. Unforgettable
were his VHF and EME expeditions to HB0, 8Q7, V51 and lectures of these
adventures at many conventions and other Ham gatherings. Pierre achieved
the WAC on 144 mc EME in 1984 and the DXCC on 50 MHz in 2002. An ex-
Maritime Radio Operator, he was an Honorary Member of USKA (Union of
Swiss Short Wave Amateurs) and a number of other distinguished societies
in Amateur Radio. He leaves his wife Inge, a son and a daughter. He will
forever remain in our hearts." OPDX and its readers would like to send
out our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of HB9QQ.

ST0, SOUTHERN SUDAN (Look for more Ops!). Paul, N6PSE, Co-Leader for the
DXpedition to Southern Sudan states, "I anticipate having 1-2 openings
on our DXpedition team to the newly created country of South Sudan. We
are targeting our start date to coincide with the admission of the country
by the UN. Currently, the feeling is that may be mid-August, 2011.

sense of adventure and would seriously consider going with us to Juba,

SY2011, GREECE (Special Event). Special event station SY2011BVM is now
active until July 4th. Activity is to celebrate the Special Olympics Games

SY7, GREECE (Special Event). Members of the Xanthi's Ham Club TELETHRA,
(SZ7XAN) will be active as SY7SOG during the Special Olympics Games
until July 4th. Activity will be on all bands,160m-70cm and all modes
(SSB, CW, RTTY, PSK, SSTV etc). There will be a special QSL card which
will be sent for all QSOs via the Greek QSL Bureau (arrangements are
to be made).

T6, AFGHANISTAN. Eric, K9GY, is now active as T6MO and is expected to be
here (he mentions Grid MM44) for at least a year. Activity will be on
40-10 meters using a windom antenna. Most of his operations have been on
CW. Eric states, "No 30m operation allowed here per Theater Spectrum

TY, BENIN. A group of operators are planning to activate Grand Popo,
Benin, between August 5-14th. They have the licenses in their hands
and all the other permissions to enter and operate. Callsign will be
TY1KS. Operators mentioned are Salvador/EA3QS, Giorgio/IZ4AKS, Fabri/
IW3SQY, Francesco/IZ8GCE and Antonello/IT9YVO. Their DXpedition experiences
are: 1A3A, 1A4A, 3A, 3B8, 3B9, 5R8KS, C31CT, E44M, HV5PUL, T70A, T70DXC,
UK8AXA and others locations. Activity will be on all HF bands and 6
meters, using 3 three Elecraft K3s, and two Elecraft KPA500 new solid
state amplifier. Due to the high demand for this country, the focus will
be on the lower bands and the Digital modes, but also SSB and the higher
band will be well worked especially during the TEP openings. QSL via
IZ8IYX or by the OQRS (for direct/Bureau) and LoTW. Their Web site is

ZM, NEW ZEALAND (Special Event). Look for special event station ZM2KBR
to be active between September 1st and October 31st. Activity is to
promote the 2011 Rugby World Cup games. QSL via ZL2KBR, eQSL, by the
Bureau or direct.
