more likely a "BUSTED CALLSIGN". As always, you never know - "Work
First Worry Later" (WFWL).

3W, VIETNAM (VERY RARE IOTA #2). An international group of operators are
now active as 3W6C from Con Co Island (AS-185) until April 18th. This
multi-national project, being coordinated by Swiss ham-radio operators,
consists of roughly 20 individuals including one woman and members not
only from Switzerland but also from Vietnam, Germany, USA and Japan.
During their stay they plan to have 4 stations on the air. Their goal is
to make contacts on as many different frequencies as possible, even on
the 80 meter and 160 meter bands which makes this DXpedition very special.
The team will also be on the satellites. The following satellite will be
used: AO-07*, AO-51*, HO-68*, SO-50 and SO-67 (*first priority - not
all overflights and sats will be used). Please note that only AO-07 will
be activated in the SBB/CW-mode. All other satellites are in the FM-mode.
The main areas in the footprint are: East-Asia, Japan, China, India,
Australia and eastern part of Russia. Suggested frequencies are available
at: http://www.3w6c.qrv.ch/frequencies
Complete details about the 3W6C operation are available at:
http://www.3w6c.qrv.ch
ADDED NOTES: Alex, AI2Q, will serve as East Coast pilot station and Steve,
W7QC, will be the West Coast pilot. Alex informs OPDX readers that "Con Co
Island is one of Vietnam's 14 islands and is located 32 km from the main-
land of Quang Tri Province in the southern part of the Gulf of Tonkin. In
the IOTA (Islands on the Air) program, it belongs to the group AS-185,
which among all Asian islands is the second-most sought after group. The
island also has a lighthouse that qualifies for the 'World Lighthouse On
The Air' program (WLOTA #2557). In the past the island was a top secret
military base in the Vietnam War. The island continues to have a military
base. The SSB and CW stations will use former above-ground military
bunkers. The RTTY station will be a small wooden bungalow which will
also serve as the headquarters and general meeting point for the team
who will sleep in the island's only guest house. The CW, SSB and RTTY
sites are set far apart to minimize interference among them. From a
practical standpoint this means that team members must travel 1 to 2 km
to get from the headquarters to their assigned station when it is time
to operate."

6V7, SENEGAL. Luc, F5RAV, will once again be active from La Somone
between October 25th and November 1st. He will be operating from Jean-
Francois, 6W7RV, QTH as 6V7T. Activity will be on SSB and PSK31, and on
160-10 meters (including 17 and 12m with a dipole only). He is planning
to be in the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 30-31st). QSL via only direct
to his home callsign. See details on QRZ.com. Also, visit his BLOG page
at: http://f5rav.free.fr

9Y, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO. Rolf, DL2DBE, is now active as 9Y/DL2DBE from
San Fernando, Trinidad. He will be in Trinidad until the end of the month
of April working the 30-10 meter bands in the evening (East Coast time).
Rolf will also keep an ear on six meters. QSL via DJ5BWD.

CY0, SABLE ISLAND (Update). Randy, N0TG, informs OPDX readers: "As we
work toward a mid-October operation, details with regard to personnel
transportation as well as partial equipment shipment a few weeks in
advance is being planned. As is the case for many Dxpeditions, finances
become a challenge. Individual donations to assist the Dxpedition will
be appreciated. The HOME Page of the website includes a PAYPAL Donate
button with several country currency choices. All individual donors'
callsigns will be listed in order received on the website. The 'team'
thanks you for your consideration. WEBSITE: http://www.CY0dxpedition.com
E-mail/questions directed toward N0TG okay (E-mail address listed on
QRZ.com).... 73, Randy, N0TG"

FR, REUNION ISLAND (Reminder). By the time you read this, Stephane,
F5UOW, will once again be on holiday and active from Reunion Island
(AF-016) between now and May 2nd. He will also be using the same callsign
as last time, FR/F5UOW, but only until April 17th, and activity will be
only on 20 meters. He will then move to another QTH were he will use the
callsign TO2R and will be active on 80-10 meters, mostly on CW. QSL via
his home callsign, direct or by the Bureau.

FW, WALLIS AND FUTUNA (Also 3D2). Operators Mini/JA2NQG, Yuji/JH2BNL and
Shige/JI2UAY will be active as FW/homecall between July 14-21st. Activity
will be on 160-10 meters using all modes. QSL via their home callsigns.
ADDED NOTE: On their way back to Japan, the trio will then be active from
the Fiji Islands between July 21–24th. Currently, callsigns are unkown
as of yet.
Also, QSL via their home callsigns.

GB4, SCOTLAND (A First! Dawn to Dusk Challenge in June). Bob, GM0DEQ,
informs OPDX that he will be activating up to 15 Scottish islands within
24 hours in June using a sea plane as transport. His callsign will be
GB4DTD [Dawn To Dusk]. Activity will be on the HF bands, 40-10 meters.
QSL via GM0DEQ. The island list is subject to change due to a few factors
governing their sea plane transport. More details will be published on
the following Web site, when available, at: http://www.gdram.com
In addition, there will be a specially commissioned trophy available to
win for this probable first? To celebrate the challenge, an Orkney Crystal
Glass Trophy will be awarded to one lucky amateur radio station. This
specially commissioned trophy will be awarded to the first station that
has worked Bob on all the islands that he activates or the first to work
the most islands activated [All he asks is that the recipient funds the
appropriate post & packaging]. The departure date will be subject to WX
too, and will be from Monday, June 14th, onwards as close to the longest
day to maximize daylight flying. The latitude of the Orkney Islands will
also assist in maximizing daylight flying.

HG0, HUNGARY (WFF Op). Members of the Regionalis Radios Sportklub Puspok-
ladany (HA0KHW) will once again activate another Hungarian National Park
as HG0WFF. This time from the Bihari-Sik Natural Reserves (HAFF-012)
between April 16-18th. Activity will be on all HF bands using CW and
SSB. The rigs and the equipment are: FT-840, IC-706 MKII, MOS FET vegfok,
kb. 300 W output, 2x22 m doublet with 450 ohmos ladder line, Monoband
Gp's for 40/30/20 meters and a big battery with generator. Operators
mentioned are: Pisti/HA0ANA, Laci/HA0HW, Toni/HA0LG and Viktor/HG0NAZ.
QSL via HA0HW, by the HA Bureau.

the Bureau.

AS-125. Members from the Radio Amateur Society of Thailand are now
active as E20AS from Chang Island (Ko Chang in Thai) in the
Gulf of Thailand, for a mini DXpedition until April 16th.
They will have 2 element beams for both 20 and 15 meters
and a multi-band vertical for the other bands. Their operation
site is on the north end of the Island and should give them a
fairly decent path to EU and NA when the bands are open. Their
vertical antenna will be near the water and that should help
their signals. Planned modes are CW and SSB. Operators mentioned
include: John/W2YR(HS0ZDJ), Sam/SM3DYU(HS0ZDY), Winit/HS1CKC,
Cy/HS0GBI and Swen/DB3KT(HS0ZFZ). QSL via HS1CKC

the forecast for the duration of the operation is for quiet
conditions. The operating schedule will be Asia from 0000-
0400z, Europe from 0400-0700z and 1400-1700z, North America
from 1800-2300z. That's generally where I'll have the antenna
pointed but will still happily take callers from anyone that
is hearing me. I'll be operating almost exclusively 20m SSB,
but I will bring a 40m dipole antenna as a backup. My plane
doesn't land in Paulatuk until 4:00 pm on Wednesday, so I
probably won't be on the air until late that evening (early
morning 15th April UTC). I'll be using my satellite phone to
post status updates during the trip, so watch this space for
the latest information." Updated information can be found

SILENT KEY. The members of the Northern Ohio DX Association (NODXA) are
deeply saddend to report that a great friend, DXer and mentor/elmer
recently became a "Silent Key" (SK). Stanley Haase, K8VI (ex-K8YVI), at
the age 85, became a "SK" on March 29th. Stan, who grew up in Canada,
served in the Royal Air Force, move to Michigan and then to Ohio, was a
very interesting and knowledgeable ham. He was a founding member (1965)
of the Hazel Park Amateur Radio Club in Hazel Park, MI. In the Cleveland,
Ohio, area, Stan will be remembered as the manager of the Heathkit in Parma
Hts., working there between 1963-1979. He will surely be missed by many
of his friends. OPDX and its readers would like to send out our deepest
sympathy to the family and friends of K8VI.

T32, EASTERN KIRIBATI (Update). By the time you read this, the Southern
Line Islands operators should be active as T32SI from Starbuck Island
(IOTA OC-280 and the last island out of the four uninhabited islands to
