4F, PHILIPPINES. Well known AM radio talk show host of the "Coast to Coast", Art Bell, W6OBB, was recently heard as 4F1AB from Manila, where he now lives. Activity was on 20 and 15 meters SSB after 1200z. Info on QRZ.com states that he is active on 40-10 meters, and he listens to 14315 kHz. QSL via his Nevada address.
4X, ISRAEL (WFF Op). Members of the Holy Land DX Group will activate Israel's Qumran National Park, October 8-9th, starting on Friday at 0700z and ending on Saturday at 1200z. Operators mentioned are: Shalom/4Z4BS, Mark/4Z4KX, Ilya/4Z1UF, Vadim/4X4FJ, Ruben/4Z5FI, Yulik/4X6HP, Ros/4Z5LA and Jan/4X1VF. They plan to operate from two WFF locations (activated for the first time ever) using two different callsigns: 4X0WFF - Main Station Cumran (4XFF-030, Holy Land Square M18YN); running two stations CW and SSB on the WFF frequencies. 4X0WFF/M - Second Mobile station in Ein Gedi National Reserve (4XFF-016, Holy Land L21BS). They will operate SSB on 14265 kHz; the Holy Land Mobile frequency.
QSL cards will be handled by Malik, 4X4JU, Israel's WFF Award Manager. They will also operate from several attractive squares for the Holy Land program as well (L19YN, L20YN and L20BL). 5Z, KENYA (Update). Sig, NV7E/ZS6SIG, who has now relocated from Pretoria, South Africa, to Nairobi, Kenya, is now signing 5Z4EE for the next four years. Sig originally had the 5Z4EE callsign back in the 1980s. Activity will be on all bands 160-10 meters. 9M6, EAST MALAYSIA. Hideto, JF2QNM, will activate the Langkah Syabas Beach Resort Amateur Radio Club, 9M6LSC, during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 30-31st) as a Single-Op/All-Band/High-Power/Assisted entry. QSL via LoTW.
C6, BAHAMAS. Dr. Rick, NE8Z, will be active as C6AEZ from Nassau, New Providence Island (NA-001) between October 11-16th. Activity will be on 80-10 meters using CW and SSB. His rig will be a TS50s w/Outbacker antenna. QSL via NE8Z.
C9, MOZAMBIQUE (Update to OPDX.976). Operators Tony/G4LDL, David/GI4FUM, Daniel/ZS6JR and possibly a couple of other ZS operators will be active as C91WW during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 30-31st). Entry to TBD. QSL via GI4FUM.
CE3, CHILE. Operators Sergio/CE3WDH, Alfredo/CE3WDD, Carlos/CE1CRG and Danilo/XQ4CW will be active as CE3G during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 30-31st) as a Multi-Single entry. QSL via CE3WDH.
CR3, MADEIRA ISLAND (AF-014). Members of the CT3 Madeira Contest Team will be active as CR3A during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 27-28th) as a Multi-2 entry. QSL via CQ9K.
CR6, PORTUGAL (WFF Op). Members of the Algarve STAR DX Team will be active as CR6A from S. Lourenzo Fortress located inside Ria Formosa Natural Park (CTFF-07) between Armona Island and Culatra Island (EU-145). This Fortress is totally submerged except in the lower tides on the year as October 10th. Activity will be on all bands as possible on CW and SSB. QSL via CT1GFK. The Algarve STAR DX Team will be offering a "surprise gift" to all stations who contact them on October 10th, at 1010z. CY0, SABLE ISLAND (Update). Randy, N0TG, provides the following update on the upcoming Sable Island operation to take place between October 21-29th (edited): "All is in place for operation to begin the afternoon of October 21st. The team has noted the frequencies chosen by the various Caribbean operations. Even though our preferred frequencies have been posted on our Web and otherwise made known for a long time, there appears to be some over-lap. However, perhaps most of the operations will end on October 22nd. For those interested in CY0, we may need to adjust our frequencies on the fly, but eventually work our way back to the advertised frequencies. D7, SOUTH KOREA. Members of the Cheonan-Asan Ham Club and possibly other guest operators will be active as D7G20 between October 29th and November 28th. Activity is to celebrate the G20 Summit in Seoul. The "20" nations during the summit try to work together to move the world beyond the financial crisis to balance and sustainable growth. EA8, CANARY ISLANDS (Update/Correction). Look for operators Jean/ON5JV and Georgette/ON6AK to be active as EA8/homecall from Tijoco Bajo, Tenerife Island (AF-004) between November 26th and February 23rd (2011). Activity will be on 40-10 meters during their evenings using CW and SSB. They plan to use an Icom IC-706MKIIG w/100 watts into a vertical 14AVQ and dipole. GT1, ISLE OF MAN. Members of the Isle of Man Amateur Radio Society (IOMARS) will be active as GT1IOM from the "TT Grandstand" in the town of Douglas (EU-116, WLOTA 0449, IO74se) between October 16-17th. HI, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC (IOTA Op). Jose, EA3GUO, will be active as HI3/ EA3GUO and HI9/EA3GUO, from Hispaniola Island (NA-096) and Cayo Levantao Island (NA-122) respectively, between October 9-23rd. Activity will be active mainly on 20 meters SSB (watch 14260 kHz). QSL via his home callsign.
IOTA NEWS.................... AF-018. Operator Raffaele, IH9YMC, will be active from Pantelleria Island (IIA TP-001, MIA MI-124, WW Loc. JM56XT), African Italy, in the CQ WW DX SSB Contest (October 30-31st) as a Single- Op/Single-Band (??) entry. QSL via eQSL.
NA-140. Rick, K8GI, was expected to be active as K8GI/3 from Middle Hooper Island (ARLHS USA-377), on October 3rd, between approx. 1300-2230z. Activity is on 17 meters SSB and PSK63, 20 meters SSB, PSK63 and RTTY. QSL via his home callsign, direct or by Bureau – direct preferred. (All QSOs will be uploaded to LoTW as well.)
IR7, ITALY (WFF & IFF Op). Just a reminder that Fred, IK7JWX, will be active from several national parks and reserves as IR7WFF in the Provinces of Lecce (LE), Brindisi (BR), Taranto (TA) and "may be" Bari (BA) between now and December 31st. Activity will be on 7144 kHz and 14244 kHz. All these activations will count for the "Italian Flora Fauna" (IFF) and "World Flora Fauna" (WFF) awards. QSL via IK7JWX. J3, GRENADA. Wade, AA8LL, will be active as J3/AA8LL from the main island of Grenada (NA-024) between October 28th and November 5th. Activity will be holiday style, but will include a Single-Op/High-Power entry in the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 30-31st). Operations before and after the contest will be mostly on 30/17/12 meters using CW and RTTY. After the contest Wade plans to visit Carriacou (NA-147) for a possible small activation or a scouting visit for a future operation. QSL via AA8LL, direct, by the Bureau, or LoTW.
KH2, GUAM. Operators Kiyoshi/JA7RPC and Mitsuru/JH7DFZ will be active as KH2/JA7RPC and KH2/JH7DFZ between November 5-7th. QSL is OK via Bureau.

SPECIAL NOTE FROM LEE, KH6BZF: On "Radio Havana", there is an interesting DX and propagation program every Monday at 0600z on 6.010 MHz. Give it a listen.
KH6, HAWAII (USI Awards Program Special Event Op). Look for operators Yukon John/KL7JR and his XYL Claire/WL7MY to be on the northwest corner of Maui (HI-018S), October 24-31st, to continue with USI's 16th anniversary celebration. Activity will be on 20-10 meters SSB using the callsigns "N7I" or "KH6/KL7JR". Antennas will be "vertical dipoles" and "V beams" (MFJ's mobile antennas). These antennas performed well in the Yukon (see links 1 & 2 below) and he wants to see what they will do in Hawaii! QSL via KL7JR. LA, NORWAY. Finnish operators Simo/OH2HAN and Timo/OH3DF will be active as LA/homecall from the Arctic Sea in Norway in the Village of Bugøynes, a small fishing village, between October 15-18th. Activity will be on the HF bands using SSB and RTTY. Bugøynes was establihed on/about the year 1850, when Finnish hunger refugees moved to Norway and started to fish in the Arctic Sea for their living. Bugøynes village is very picturesque and situated on the coast of the Arctic Sea on Varanger Fjord on the northern most part of Norway. The village is nowadays famous for King Crab or Kamtshatka Crab - which they catch and sell world-wide. Travellers are welcome to visit the village and join the fishing boat to get their own fish and crabs from the Arctic Sea. A special QSL card will be available via their home callsigns. OL5, CZECH REPUBLIC. Members of the Czech DIG (Diplom Interessen Gruppe) Section will activate their club callsign, OL5DIG, between now and October 31st. Operations will be from various locations and on various bands, but only on the Digital modes, especially BPSK with respect to improve their score on the European PSK Club award list. OR4, ANTARCTICA. Karel, ON5TN, will once again be staying at the Princess Elisabeth Station (WAP BEL-02) in the Antarctica between November 10th and February 24th (2011). He expects to be active again as OR4TN. However, upon his arrival a lot of work needs to be done at the base, and Karel expects to be active starting only in December. QSL via ON5TN. P4, ARUBA. Bill, KE5OG, will be active as P40B in the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 30-31st) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (40m). QSL via KE5OG.
P4, ARUBA. Marty, W2CG, informs OPDX that he will once again be vacationing in Aruba (SA-036, WLOTA 0033) between January 10-24th, 2011. He states that he will be using the callsign P40CG, but will be staying at a different QTH on the island than his previous trips and is not sure of the operating conditions at this time. Marty states that he will be bringing with him a rig, w/tuner and a 33 ft. collapsible vertical. Operating time will be limited, mostly during early evening hours before dinner. Activity will be on 80-10 meters, including 30/17/12 meters, using mainly CW, but will do SSB on request. All logs will be uploaded to LoTW, and he will also QSL 100%, direct or by the Bureau via his home callsign (USA stations please SASE). He doesn't use E-QSL.
PACIFIC DXPEDITIONS IN WORKS. Eddie, VK4AN, who is expected to be active once again as 3D2A from Navua Village on Viti Levu Island (OC-016) between October 27th and November 14th (see OPDX.976), announced this past week that he is in the planning stages for two Pacific DXpeditions for next year (2011). VK4AN is first organizing a Fiji (3D2) operation to possibly activate several rare Fiji IOTAs in early 2011. His second organized operation will be from Naura (C2) in mid-2011. The following press release was sent out on September 29th, by Joe/W8GEX and Craig/K9CT (edited): "We are very happy to announce that we have received permission to use PJ7E call for our 10 day DXpedition. Our cargo has been picked up and is heading towards Sint Maarten. Our Web site <http://www.stmaarten2010.com> is constantly being updated by our Webmaster K6MM. K8YSE Lake Superior QSL card! John, K8YSE, reports that the "Lake Superior Grid Expedition" QSL cards have been printed and have been received from the printer. John expects to have some QSLs ready before the AMSAT Symposium. If you worked John on his trip and plan to attend the Symposium, please drop him an E-mail and he will bring the cards to Chicago and give them to you in person. There will be 11 different cards for the various locations. A picture of the Minnesota card is on his Web site, papays.com/sat and QRZ.com. There were about 350 unique callsigns out of 2069 QSOs. John states, "This is a good indicator that it's not just a handful of stations that are operating on the birds. There is a growing interest in satellites and many of the newer operators are working towards their Satellite VUCC!"

V7, MARSHAL ISLANDS (Update). Just a reminder that Yuri, N3QQ, will start his "one-man operation" first from Majuro (OC-029) on October 7th, then travel to Enewetak Atoll (OC-087) on October 9th. Activity from Enewetak will take place between October 12-15th. Operations from the uninhabited Ujelang Atoll (OC-278), which has never been activated before, will be between October 16-19th. Callsigns are: V73RRC for Ujelang Island and V73QQ for Enewetak and Majuro Island. Yuri plans to be active on 40-6 meters using CW and SSB. VC2, CANADA. Operators Noel/VE2BR and Gregg/VE3ZZ will once again be in this year's CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 30-31st) as a Multi-Single entry using the special callsign VC2Z. Their QTH will be Mercier, Quebec (in Zone 5, Grid Loc FN35dh). QSL via VE2BR. Gregg states, "Tnx to all those who called us last year allowing us to take 1st place in Quebec (VE2)."
VK6, AUSTRALIA. Bernd, VK2IA, will be active as VK6AA during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 27-28th) as a Single-Op/All-Band/High-Power entry. QSL via DL8YR. Activity will be in memory of Neil Penfold, VK6NE (SK), and from the Northern Corridor Radio Group's (VK6ANC) club station situated about 20 km north from the city center in Perth, Western Australia. VK9N, NORFOLK ISLAND. Operators Alan/VK3XPD, Kevin/VK4UH and Mike/VK3KH, will once again be active as VK9NA between January 7-21st, 2011. VK9X, CHRISTMAS ISLAND. A group of JA operators plan to take a DX holiday on Christmas Island (OC-002) between January 14-20th (2011). Operators mentioned (with their own VK9X callsign) are: Takeo/JA3BZO (VK9XA), Hiroko/ JH3PBL (VK9XL), Shimatake/JI3DNN (VK9XN), Masumi/JA3AVO (VK9XO), Nakasako/ JA3UJR (VK9XJR), Kunio/JA1CJA (VK9XXY) and Nishimura/JA3HJI (TBD). VP5, TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS. Dave, W5CW, will once again be active as as VP5/W5CW from the VP5JM Hamlet on the Island of Providenciales (NA-002, WLOTA 1476) between November 24th and December 14th. Activity will include entries in three contests: CQWW DX CW Contest (November 27-28th), ARRL 160m Contest (December 3-5th) and the ARRL 10m Contest (December 11-12th). ZS8, MARION ISLAND (Update). Pierre, ZS1HF/ZS8M, continues to be active most days on 40/17/15 meters SSB (various frequencies) between 1000-1930z and 0300-0500z. He has also released his October newsletter from Marion Island were he provided more pictures, along with more details about his set up and activities on the island. Pierre also talks about his contacts and the QRMers. He states, "I have now reached just more than 4700 contacts. Thanks to those who continue to request a QSO who also operate considerately.....
