Thanks to the Northern Ohio Amateur Radio Society, Northern Ohio DX

following DX information.

DXCC NEWS. Bill Moore, NC1L, ARRL Awards Branch Manager, reports that
the following operations are approved for DXCC credit:
The following operations are approved for DXCC credit:
9Q50AR – Democratic Republic of the Congo (Club Station all operations)
9Q50ON – Democratic Republic of the Congo; 2010 Operation

If you've had credits rejected for these operations please send a
note to dxcc@arrl.org. Results will appear in LoTW accounts, or, please
view your numbers online on the live, daily listings at www.arrl.org/dxcc.

PJ ACTIVITY. During the next three weeks (starting 10/10/10), DXers
will be treated to something special that they have never seen before
- multiple new DXCC entities. Expect huge pileups and probably plenty
of confusion. It is suggested to "PLEASE be patient", "LISTEN" and "KNOW"
who/what you are working. Even though the PJ islands are expected to be
new DXCC entities, they will NOT be totally rare ones and will be easily
accessible for future operations. With over 11 operations expected to
be on the air during the next month, observe/listen first and then have
fun working them.

STATIONS EXPECTED TO BE ON THE AIR 10/10/10:
     PJ2T       - Curacao Island; October 10th-November 2nd
     PJ4B       - Bonaire Island; October 10-22nd

     PJ5/AA4NC  - St. Eustatius; October 9-15th
     PJ6A       - Saba Island; October 10-22nd
     PJ7E       - Sint Maarten; October 10-20th
     PJ7/AA4NC  - Sint Maarten; October 15-18th
     PJ7/AH6DX  - Sint Maarten; October 15-22nd

STATIONS EXPECTED TO BE ON THE AIR LATER IN NOVEMBER:
     PJ4A       - Bonaire Island; November 23-30th
     PJ5/SP6IXF - St.Eustatius; November 18th-December 3rd

   PJ2 - Curacao Island        68-Deg. 59' W and 12-Deg. 10' N
   PJ4 - Bonaire Island        68-Deg. 28' W and 12-Deg. 15' N
   PJ5 - St. Eustatius Island  62-Deg. 58' W and 17-Deg. 30' N
   PJ6 - Saba Island           63-Deg. 14' W and 17-Deg. 38' N
   PJ7 - St. Maarten Island    63-Deg.  3' W and 18-Deg.  1' N

SPECIAL NOTE: Bill Moore, NC1L, Awards Branch Manager, informed the
DXCC QSL Checker on October 6th (edited): "As you know on 10/10/10
Bonaire, Curacao and Sint Maarten, et al, will become deleted entities
on the DXCC list. Other changes will occur and a full news release will
be made at the appropriate time.
For card checking purposes, DXCC will not be accepting any contacts
for the new entities until January 1, 2011. If you receive applications
with the deleted PJ's, these can be checked until December 31, 2010.
However, if your applicant asks, this entity will still count but as
a deleted entity. (effective 10/10/10).
If someone brings to you a QSL dated 10/10/10 or after, but before
January 1, 2011, this card must be returned to them, unprocessed. The
new entities will not even be added to the DXCC computer until January 1,
2011, so submitting them will result in nothing credited."

Press Release from Helsinki - October 7, 2010

SCANDINAVIAN ACTIVITY CONTEST (SAC) THIS WEEKEND, OCTOBER 9-10

SAC is a fast-track race where the Nordic countries - LA, OH, OZ, SM and
TF - are in serious annual country-level competition while also seeing
individual muscle flexing on all bands except 160M from 1200 UTC Saturday
through 1200 UTC Sunday on SSB.

Radio Arcala, OH8X is an alliance of young and seasoned contesters who
do things together with their associates, bringing youthful energy and
old wisdom into the game and working together to secure needed resources
and always topped with innovations.

This is to introduce the Radio Arcala SAC team and their four operating
locations:

OH8X - the mother station in Northern Finland will be piloted by Toni,
OH2UA. He is a young and skillful operator and the current holder of
CQWW European records on both CW and SSB. <http://www.radioarcala.com/>
Toni's self-confidence is boosted by two 100-meter rotating towers and
large antennas challenging the Northern Lights as well as imminent ice
and snow!

OJ0B - on Market Reef, two brave men, OH2BO and OH2PM, have decided to
weather the storms and hold on to the reef to put this rare counter into
SAC. They have racked up an impressive score on low bands this week and
they will keep on running the low bands and 17M until the SAC starting
bell, with some equipment challenges. Pertti, OH2PM will pilot SAC single-
handedly. <http://www.majakkaseura.fi/>

OH0B - Aland Islands, with Martti, OH2BH to offer an OH0 in SAC from the
Brando cottage that has provided reliable service as a contest multiplier
for more than 30 years sporting a variety of OH0 callsigns. This is
Martti's annual October outing, taking Mom on a trip to a wonderland
which they discovered in 1979. There's a new 80M beam which may put
Martti on a par with OH8X and OJ0B as a rare country attraction.

OH2BH - from Southern Finland, Ilkka, OH1WZ will air the newly refurbished
OH2BH contest site, using a pair of Yaesu FTdx5000's. As a serious
contester, Ilkka is also the highly acclaimed Contest Club Finland (CCF)
PileUp Magazine's Chief Editor. You are very welcome to download your
PU copy with interesting reading plus a link to SAC rules. Ilkka is
hammering alongside the others but is determined to cut the finish line
ahead of them. <http://www.helsinki.fi/~korpela/PU/PU34_2010.pdf>

Radio Arcala has set as its target to offer you a lot of fun and to see
the four stations placing among the Scandinavian Top Six, single op - all
bands. You can follow their performance by tracking the serial numbers
of old and young Arcalians racing in full harmony.

QSL OH8X via OH2UA. Others via OH2BH.
