01/07/2010:  Starting on 1 July 2010 Acim, YU1YV plans to become active
as 4O3A (guest OP) or as 4O/YU1YV. He prefers working on 80m but can be
found also on 6m, 10m, 15m and 20m. He will join the single OP/allband
class in the IARU HF Championship Contest (10-11 July). QSLs for 4O3A
via YU1FW (b/d/LoTW), QSLs for 4O/YU1YV via his homecall. [DXNL]

01/07/2010:  Zik, VE3ZIK/DO7ZZ will be once again active from Bilice
(Croatian coast) as 9A/VE3ZIK between 1 July and 27 September 2010. He
will try to activate several IOTA/IOCA Islands in the EU-170 IOTA group,
and also be in the RSGB IOTA Contest. Also, there is a chance he will

01/07/2010:  Katsumi, JF1OKX will be staying in Lusaka, Zambia, until
the end of September 2011. He plans to start operations on the amateur
radio bands (80-6 metres) as 9J2KK "during the first 10 days of July".
He will concentrate on the digital modes (PSK31 or 62, RTTY, WSJT and

01/07/2010:  Michel, HB9BOI will be active from the north of Sal Island
(AF-086, WLOTA L-0610) as D44TOI from 1-13th July 2010. QRV all HF

01/07/2010:  Toshi, JA8BMK will visit Spitsbergen Island (EU-026, WLOTA
L-0125, WW Loc. JQ78TF) on 1-11 July 2010 and will sign JW/JA8BMK on
20-6m using CW, SSB and RTTY. He also needs help with 6m Big Linear Amp
which he would like to ship by plane in advance. QSL direct to home

01/07/2010:  Igor, OK8EU and Jaroslav, OK1BZ will be active 1-11 July
2010 as homecall/p from the National Park Ceske Stredohori (OKFF-006).
They plan to activate many objects for Programs: WCA, SOTA, WFF, NPRC,
CCA and others. QRV on 80-10m, WARC included, using SSB, CW, Digital
modes. Also QRV on 50 MHz SSB and CW, plus 2m and 70cm FM, SSB and CW.

02/07/2010:  A total of twelve operators (made up of two teams) will
activate Ilha da Moela (SA-071, DIB SP-06, WLOTA 1335), Sao Paulo State,
Brazil, on 2-4 July 2010. Each team will use a different callsign.
PW2K - A team of 9 operators will have 2 stations on the air. Operators
are: Gerson PY2AC, Ric PY2DEL, Fabio PY2XM, Walter PY2IAY, Rogerio
PY2OE, Julio PY2XV, Rabelo PY2AN, Tony PY2DY and Alex PY2WAS. PS2G -
Another team, of only three operators, will participate in the 2010
WLOTA Contest (3-4 July). Operators will be: Ric PY2EL, Carlos PY2VM and
Waldir PY2WC. QSL both callsigns via PY2WAS, direct or by the bureau.

02/07/2010:  Look for Pontus, SM0R/SM0RUX and Jaan, SM0OEK to be active
as SM0R/1 from the island of Gotska Sandön (IOTA EU-020, WLOTA L-0401,
Grid Loc. JO98), Gotland County, Sweden, from 2-4th July 2010. QRV on
the HF bands and 50 MHz. Note that this activity will also count for
Gotska Sandön National Park (WFF reference SMFF-010). QSL via SM0R,

02/07/2010:  Orlando, PT2OP in company with Fred, PY2XB (expedition
callsign pending) will be active 2-5 July 2010 from the Cotejuba
lighthouse (ARLHS BRA-278, WLOTA L-2855, WW Loc. GI58RR), on Cotejuba
Island (IOTA SA-060, DIB PA-14), in the Pará State, northern Brazil.
Orlando will use the special callsign ZX8C (mostly SSB), while Fred will
use ZX8W (mostly CW). Orlando is a Scout operator and all QSOs with ZX8C
will be valid for the BP Award (PR7JP manager) and Diploma Baden-Powell
the Radio (manager PY2AA). Both stations also to be valid: IOTA Diploma,
Diplomas of WLOTA, ARLHS, DIB Brazilian Islands Award, DFB Brazilians
Lighthouses Award, South American Lighthouses Award, in addition to
diplomas WAA (such as Brazil), WAB (as Para State - PY8), WAO (such
Brazil) and DBDX (as Brazil if worked on 160, 80 or 40m) from the LABRE,

03/07/2010:  Rich, K3RWN will be signing K3RWN/4 from Isle of Palms
(NA-110, USi SC001S, Charleston county), South Carolina, on 3-9th July
2010. He will attempt several Satellite contacts while on the island.

03/07/2010:  Bob, KD0GAF will be active from the Voyageurs National Park
on a "MN Island Expedition" on 3 & 4 July 2010 (1800z - 2100z) and 10 &
11 July 2010 (1800z - 2100z). Specific islands to be worked will be
determined by weather and water conditions. Operation will be primarily
on 20 metres, in the island corridor of 14.250 - 14.260 MHz. He will
also try 10 metres, 28.450 MHz, propagation permitting. Islands
mentioned are: Cemetery (MN017), Fox (MN018), Kubel (MN019), McManus
(MN020), Namakan (MN021), Wolf Pack East (MN022), Wolf Pack North

03/07/2010:  Patrick, WD9EWK will be signing VA7EWK from Vancouver

05/07/2010:  Paul, FP/K9OT and Peg, FP/KB9LIE will be active 5-14th July
2010 from the Motel de Miquelon (formerly Maxotel) on the island of
Miquelon (NA-032, DIFO FP-002, WLOTA L-1417, WW Loc. GN17TC). QRV 160-6
metre CW and SSB, using wire vertical antennas and 100 watts. Main bands
will be 40, 30, 20, and 17. They also plan to participate in the IARU HF

05/07/2010:  Vanni, IK4RUX will be active as ID9/IK4RUX from Lipari

05/07/2010:  Freddy, F5IRO, will be active as J28RO from the Republic of
Djibouti on 6 July 2010, and is expected to stay for 2 years. QRV on the

Nature Reserve (KFF-620 New One!), located in Allegheny County,

07/07/2010:  Alex, IW5ELA and Giampiero I5NOC will be in Mongolia from
7-22nd July 2010. Alex will use the callsign JT1/IW5ELA. He will operate

04/09/2010:  Tom, DL4VM will be active from Vendsyssel-Thy [Nordjylland]

01/07/2010:  The Awa Dance Festival (or Awa Odori) is held from 12 to 15
August as part of the Obon festival in Tokushima Prefecture on the
island of Shikoku (AS-076, JCG 37001) in Japan. Awa Odori is the largest
dance festival in Japan, attracting over 1.3 million tourists every
year. To celebrate this event, special event station 8J5AO will be aired

peak of the Sporadic E season 2010 with the special callsign W5E which

02/07/2010:  GB4BAH will be operated by members of the Coventry Amateur
Radio Society on 3 July 2010 from The Almshouses, All Saints Square,
Bedworth. This station is celebrating the 170th anniversary of the

04/07/2010:  The Puerto Rico Amateur Radio League (www.prarl.org) will
operate special event station K4C from 4 July to 1 August 2010 to
celebrate the XXI Central American and Caribbean Games that will take

04/07/2010:  The Loughton & Epping Forest Amateur Radio Society
(LEFARS), after attending for the first time in 2009, will return for
the 1st Theydon Bois Scout Group's, 23rd, annual "Donkey Derby", using

04/07/2010:  Special event station GB4BLC will be operated by members of
the Coventry Amateur Radio Society on 4 July 2010. This is a joint
venture between Coventry Amateur Radio Society & Bedworth lions Club,
operating from 30th Signals Regiment Gamecock Barracks, Bramcote near
Nuneaton (WW Loc. IO92HL). The station is promoting amateur radio &

RAC Bulletin 2010-13E - New RAC Director - Quebec

Congratulations are extended to Mr. James Keep, VE2KHC who was recently
appointed as the RAC Director for Quebec for the remainder of a two year
term which started June 24, 2010 ending December 31, 2012. Mr. Keep is a
Certified Emergency Coordinator (CEC), has trained with the Sécurité
Civil Quebec and is also a registered Radio Amateurs of Quebec Inc.
member. Mr. Keep's home QTH is in located Vaudreuil-Dorion, QC.

2010 W-HQ-S Award

>From IARU HF Championship rules:
   To contact as many other amateurs, especially IARU member society HQ
stations, around the world as possible using the 160, 80, 40, 20, 15 and
10 meter bands.

Rules:
1. The award is issued by MK QTC (The Polish Radio Amateurs' Journal)
Editor.
2. The purpose of this award is to maximize contacts with national IARU
central stations all over the world, during the IARU HF Championship
(10-11 July 2010).
3. The award is issued in two classes:
Basic, for having at least 10 contacts with the HQ stations, i.e. AO8HQ,
DA0HQ, GB5HQ, EM7HQ, SN0HQ, IU8HQ etc.
Special, W-HQ-S Special Award, limited to top three operators worldwide,
for having the the highest number of HQ stations contacted during the
Championship.
Note: one HQ station counts per band and per mode, up to 12 times i.e.
1.8MHz-CW, 1.8MHz-SSB, 3.5MHz-CW, 3.7MHz-SSB, 7MHz-CW, 7MHz-SSB,
14MHz-CW, 14MHz-SSB, 21MHz-CW, 21MHz-SSB, 28MHz-CW - 28MHz-SSB.
4. A list of valid contacts should be submitted within 30 days after the
Championship to the following address:  qtc@post.pl
5. W-HQ-S Award may be issued in two formats:
- electronic (JPG file) with call signs of all winners, at no cost.
- high resolution print, with the applicant's individual call sign,
original seal and Chief Editor signature, for a fee of 5? or $7 USD.
The funds may be sent via PayPal to: qtc@post.pl (award name and
applicant's call sign should be included as a transaction note).
6. The award is available to SWL.
7. Operators unable to submit electronic applications may apply using
standard paper forms.  The application and the fee should be sent to: MK
QTC, Suchacz-Zamek, PL-82340 Tolkmicko, Poland.

Vanuatu 2010 DXpedition News Release:

In co-operation with ODXG, a group of four Australian amateurs will be
activating Vanuatu (YJ0) from 27th August until 2nd September. The
accommodation and flights are booked and the team are waiting on
callsign allocation from the Vanuatu government.  Chris VK3QB (Leader),
Allan VK2CA, Luke VK3HJ and Brenton VK3CBV will spend six days and
nights working the HF bands from the island of Efate - as well enjoying
some of the sites of this beautiful country.

More details will be released in the coming 2 weeks, including web site
details, QSL details and likely bands/modes.  However, at this stage the
team plans to keep things simple with two HF stations limited to 100
watts and vertical and wire dipole antennas.  For more information

Stan SQ8X (team leader), Pete SQ9DIE, Vicky SV2KBS, Decan EI6FR, Leszek
NI1L, Tomek SQ9C, Bernie HB9ASZ, Pekka OH2TA, and Deon K6WH will
activate three stations SSB, CW and RTTY from July 4-16. They also have
climbers in the team who want to ascend the 2277m high vulcano
"Beerenberg" during this time.
