05/08/2011: Antonio CT1EPV, Hermann HB9CRV and Siggi DL2HYH will be active from
the lighthouse on Insua Island (IOTA EU-150, WW Loc. IN51NU) until 7 August 2011
as CS2W. QSL via HB9CRV. Due to the fact, that there is no accommodation on the
island, the operators will sail every morning to INSUA island and return every
evening to the main land. A stay overnight may only happen in case of good
propagation. The CS2W activity is valid for the Portuguese awards DIP MI-001,

August until early morning of 18 August 2011. He will attempt as many as

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, until 7 August 2011 as JT1AWN, JT1AGO, JT1ZP

05/08/2011: A group of operators are planning to activate Grand Popo (Grid Loc.
JJ06), Mono Department of south-western Benin, from 5-14 August 2011, using the
callsign TY1KS. Operators include Salvador EA3QS, Giorgio IZ4AKS, Fabri IW3SQY,
Francesco IZ8GCE and Antonello IT9YVO. Plans are to be QRV on all HF bands and 6
metres, using 3 three Elecraft K3s, and two Elecraft KPA500 new solid state
amplifier. Focus will be on the lower bands and the Digital modes, but also SSB
and the higher band will be well worked especially during the TEP openings. QSL

06/08/2011: Laci LZ/HA0HW, Tomi LZ/HA4DX and Ivan LZ1PJ will trawel through
Bulgaria from the Serbian border to the Black sea area and will spend their
holidays south of Burgas between 6th and 21st August 2011. On the route they
will stop in different Bulgarian National Parks and will try to operate from few
hours from each. On the second week they will make a side trip to one of the
EU-181 islands (Sveta Anastasia Island, Sveta Ivan Island). All operations will
take place mostly on 40-30-20-17m CW and SSB. QSL via the operators national QSL

06/08/2011: Members of the Old Barney ARC will be operating as N2OB from the
Barnegat Lighthouse (ARLHS USA-039) on Long Beach Island (IOTA NA-111, USi
NJ001S), Ocean County, New Jersey, on 6th August 2011, from about 1300-2100z.
Rain date is 7th August. There will be two stations set up with activity

Timor-Leste for the 4W6A DXpedition. Activity will be part time but on all bands

SPECIAL EVENTS -
08/08/2011: The UBA section RSX is planning a Belgian-French expedition from
8-14th August 2011 in the southern part of Belgium, next to the city Gedinne, on
the summit called Croix-Scaille" (505m) . This expedition is in collaboration
with the French radioclub F5KFL from Neuville de Poitou. About 15 operators will
be QRV on all HF bands (5 stations) in SSB and CW with the special call ON18CS.

HAMs in Portugal and Slovenia get more space for amateur radio on the 6m
band. Starting from Apr 4, 2012, amateur radio operation on 6m is allowed on
50-52 MHz in Portugal (at the moment on 50,0-50,5 MHz). The Portuguese PTT

VP8DMH rides again...
After thinking that my time down South was done, it seems I'm going back.
The British Antarctic Survey have offered me a summer post for the coming
season. This time I'll be going to Halley, between the end of December and the
beginning of March.
Halley is the second-largest station, after Rothera where I was stationed
last time. There has not been much recent amateur activity from the station to
my knowledge, which I hope to rectify! As well as the opportunity to activate
Halley 5 (the current base), this year sees the commissioning of the new base at
Halley 6.
The short summer season will obviously be very busy, especially with the
commissioning of the new station, but my intention is to put both the old and
new base on the air as time permits.
Off to Cambridge tomorrow to consign my trusty K3 for shipping...

My name is Fernando Cardona from Puerto Rico, USA (WP4FE), I got my Nepal
license (9N1FE) last week and will be active occasionally, only in 20M, when I
have some free time since I am working here in a mission Hospital (Scheer
Memorial Hospital of the Seven day Adventist Church in Banepa, Nepal, that is
located 30 kilometers East of Kathmandu). I am using a old Kendwood TS-120S with
a comet H422 antenna in V, 25 to 30 meters high in top of a water tank.
