IRESC and SATERN Active for Haiti Earthquake Operations:

Submitted by admin on Tue, 01/12/2010 - 23:27

Hello to all..

The International Radio Emergency Support Coalition (IRESC) and the
Salvation Army Team Emergency Response Network (SATERN) are both active
supporting Haiti Earthquake Operations. Indirect contact has been
established via email and second hand reporting and info as relayed by
SATERN to IRESC and by IRESC operators. Direct contact to the affected
area is being attempted by both groups.

The *WX_TALK* Echolink conference node: 7203/IRLP 9219 reflector system
has been connected directly to the *IRESC* echolink conference node:
278173 for listen only purposes. It will remain connected for as long as
IRESC is active. Anyone with emergency/priority traffic or health and
welfare traffic should connect directly to *IRESC* echolink conference
node: 278173. Information on IRESC can be seen via the following link:

http://www.iresc.org/

SATERN is active on HF and has performed liasion with IRESC. Per the
SATERN web site, SATERN activities are active on 14.235 MHz Primary for
daytime operations and 7265 and 3977.7 Khz for evening and night time
operations. Information on SATERN can be seen via the following link:

http://www.satern.org/

Any net controls and individuals that either have direct contact with
Haiti or have relays into Haiti are strongly encouraged to support
SATERN and IRESC with their operations. This would benefit those with
Health and Welfare traffic into Haiti. Stations that have Health and
Welfare traffic to Haiti can provide the info to these groups but it may
be several days before the messages will be delivered and relayed back
so those that can help with direct contact with Haiti or contact through
relays could help speed up the Health and welfare traffic flow.

We wish the best for the victims of this serious earthquake that has
affected Haiti.

Respectfully Submitted,
Robert Macedo (KD1CY)

Haiti Earthquake -

Early this morning the following update was received from the
IARU-R2-News.

"RCD and URDA en route to Haiti."

Victor Baez, HI8VB, Secretary of the Radio Club Dominicano (RCD) reports
that the RCD with UDRA, Union Dominicana de Radio Aficionados are
preparing to go to Port au Prince early morning January 15 to install an
emergency radio communications station, HI8RCD/HH, and a mobile station.
More updates can be viewed at: www.hi8vb.tk/ [VO1DTM]

XX9TLX - Macau
Georg, DK7LX is again on his travels. Having been active as TX7LX
(2008) and S92LX (2009) he will be QRV from Coloane Island (AS-075)
Macau as XX9TLX. Dates to be confirmed.
Georg explains:
"Background: it has been my dream to become one day active from this
magic city ever since I had paid a brief visit to Macau back in March
2001 on my way back from VK. It has kept me busy for about a year to
organize this trip and please understand that due to reasons that are
related to local environment, I will not be able to erect huge antennas
etc. Power wise all will comply with local regulations and I will hence
use my proven 100 W light-weight-rig, as always.
My perspective: I mainly want to have fun during this stay as well
as I look forward to meet new people and to see new places. Though the
main purpose of this trip is going to be radio, I will take things easy
but will not be active on every band in every mode. I´m not a 160 M op
and will not be QRV on this band. As always, my activity will have a
very strong CW-flavour since this is my favourite mode."
Additionally, no online log will be available and QSL cards via direct
or buro to DK7LX. [dx-hamspirit.com]
