4W6A TIMOR-LESTE (EAST TIMOR) DXPEDITION SEPTEMBER 16 - 26, 2011
PRESS RELEASE NUMBER 6: September 9, 2011
This is the sixth and final press release before the 4W6A DXpedition. The bulk of the equipment, including the linear amplifiers, the Titanex V160E vertical, Hexbeam and other antennas, left Darwin, Australia, on 6 September. It has all arrived safely in Dili, Timor-Leste, and is now awaiting the arrival of the team next week.
9M6DXX and 9M6XRO leave Malaysia on 12 September for a transit stop in Bali, from where they plan to be active 'holiday style' as YB9/G4JVG and YB9/GM3OOK respectively. Unfortunately, due to a late change of airline timetable, they will not now arrive in Dili before the afternoon of Friday 16 September. The chartered boat taking the team and the equipment to Atauro Island has therefore been rescheduled to later that afternoon.
It is likely that only one or two stations will be on the air that day as the team will run out of daylight before all the antennas can be erected. The remainder of the antenna work will commence at first light the following morning (approximately 2115UTC on 16 September) and 4W6A should be fully operational by the morning (UTC) of 17 September.
4W6A will be QRV on all bands 10 to 160 metres, using CW, SSB and RTTY with up to four stations simultaneously. It is hoped that log search will be available, thanks to the Clublog facility (go to www.4w6a.com/qsl-information/log-search), but this is dependent on a reliable Internet connection being available on the island. Col, MM0NDX, is the pilot for 4W6A and is responsible for providing feedback to the team. He may be contacted at dxer59@gmail.com
The QSL manager is M0URX, direct (SAE plus 1 IRC / $2), via the bureau, or LoTW. The entire log will be uploaded to LoTW as quickly as possible after the end of the operation or, if possible, also during the DXpedition. Direct or bureau QSLs may also be requested using the M0URX Online QSL Request Service (OQRS) at http://m0urx.com/oqrs (there is also a link from the 4W6A website at www.4w6a.com/qsl-information).
We look forward to having fun in the pile-ups and we hope you have fun chasing 4W6A. 73, The 4W6A Team. ------------------------------ OJ0X - MARKET REEF With the kind cooperation of the Finnish Lighthouse Society and their transportation partner, Captain Mats Sjostrom of Aland Islands, Radio Arcala, OH8X and their associates are announcing a 4-week DXpedition to Market Reef (IOTA EU-053, ARLHS MAR-001, TWLHD WLH OJ0-001, WFF OHFF-038, WLOTA 0542) - OJ0X - to commence on 14 September, 2011. An international team of thirteen (13) ops will operate on one-week shifts with on-the-fly team changing. You can follow the happenings via the Market Reef Diary (www.majakkaseura.fi/eng/market/). 1st week: SAC CW Contest and WARC bands; Nigel G3TXF, Pertti OH2PM and Henri OH3JR. 2nd week: CQWW RTTY Contest and WARC bands; Salvatore DH7SA, Dietmar DL3DXX and Tom DL5LYM. 3rd week: Low Bands and regular bands; Pekka OH1TV, Miika OH2BAD, Ilmo OH2BO and Tapani OH5BM. 4th week: SAC SSB Contest and WARC bands; Martti OH2BH, Teemu SM0W and Rick SM6U. They will have two stations active most of the time. Log search will be available at Clublog (www.clublog.org/expeditions.php) but it may not be updated daily due to poor Internet access from Market Reef. QSL via OH2BH. Further information can be found at: www.qrz.com/db/OJ0X#HOME [dx-world.net] ------------------------------ RAC Bulletin 2011-027E - Ontario South director re-elected. 2011-09-13
Congratulations are extended to Mr. Jeffrey Stewart, VA3WXM who was recently re-elected as the RAC Director for Ontario South. This nomination was unopposed, eliminating the need for a balloted election. Mr. Stewart was initially voted in as the Director in May 2011 and has been a certified amateur operator since March 1999 and involved in many aspects of the hobby. Mr. Stewart's term will be extended to cover January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2013.
