18/05/2012:
Irkutsk city hams, namely Victor RK0SA, Arkady RZ0SB, Valery UA0SGY,

Nuur National Park (WFF JTFF-006), Mongolia, between 18-20 May, 2012.

18/05/2012: A non-stop castle activity for
the Belgium Castle Award is planned on Friday 18 May 1400 UTC till
Sunday 20 May 1400 UTC. Members of UBA section ODE will activate Castle
De Ghellinck (BCA ref. OV-032, WCA ref. ON-00364, WW Loc. JO10ST),
commune of Elsegem, Oost Vlaanderen Province, on all HF bands SSB &

19/05/2012: Hans, DL2RU will be active

19/05/2012: Wally VK6YS will be active from West Lewis
island (OC-199) between 19-21 May, 2012. Activity mainly SSB with some

19/05/2012: The
Sarasota-Venice Island Activation Group will be active from Venetian
Waterway Park (USi FL488, Sarasota County), Florida, on 19 May, 2012.
This will be a one day setup and run for about 4 to 6 hours as planned
so far, callsign TBD. On or near the suggested frequency's for the USi
operating frequencies of, 7.250, 21.350, 28.450 and 14.250-14.260 for
SSB. Also CW in the CW sub bands and PSK31 at 14.070. The team will have
6 operators and 6 rigs running as planned so we should be on most

20/05/2012: Sergey, UT5UDX, will be active from the island
of Jamaica (NA-097, WLOTA 0214) as 6Y/UT5UDX from 20-30 May, 2012. He
will also participate in the CQWW WPX CW Contest as a Single-Op/All-Band

21/05/2012:
Andre, GM3VLB, reports "In the hope of completing what I now call the
"SCOTIA challenge", which in my own case means activating the last five
of the programme's 200 islands which I haven't yet activated, I am
returning to the Orkney (EU-009) group, beginning 21 May, 2012. I have a
return booking on 7 June but am prepared to remain in EU-009 longer, if
necessary. The 5 remaining islands are Muckle Green Holm (IOSA OR32,
SCOTIA OI20), Linga Holm (IOSA OR31, SCOTIA OI21), Eynhallow (IOSA OR24,
SCOTIA OI24), Faray (IOSA OR23, SCOTIA OI28) and Calf of Eday (IOSA
OR29, SCOTIA OI29). Some are quite difficult to approach and to land on
(steep rocky shores) as well as being subject to very strong tidal
current (the waters off Eday are in fact the chosen location for testing
the latest tidal generators, so near-perfect weather conditions will be
required. I believe most may be first-time activations. This will be a
solo operation (XYL Veronica having decided discretion was the better
part of valour!). If successful, I hope to continue activating islands,
this season, in a more relaxed way, hopefully teaming up with regular
island buddy Alex G(M)0DHZ to re-activate some less remote islands,
which even some of the high-scoring SCOTIA chasers may have missed - I
will be doing an analysis of the records to determine the most wanted."

22/05/2012: From May
22-31, 2012 look for Ron, DL6AUK and Sven, DJ2AT to be QRV from
Morokulien, on the border between Norway and Sweden. All bands will be
worked according to conditions with focus on 40m and 20m. The call will

Radio Reef contest station, island of St. Croix (NA-106, USi VI002S,

23/05/2012: The Castres DX Gang
will be active as TM5FI from Ratonneau Island (EU-095, DIFM ME003, MIA

23/05/2012: Darrell, AB2E, will once again return to
Gunthorpes, Saint George Parish, island of Antigua (NA-100, WLOTA 1118,
WW Loc. FK97BC), to activate V26E for the CQWW WPX CW Contest 26-27 May,
2012. The category will likely be
Single-Op/All-Band/Low-Power/Assisted, the same as last year, which
resulted in #2 World and #1 North America for the category. He will be
on the island from 23-30 May, and will concentrate on WARC and low bands
before and after the contest. Also, for the first time he will attempt

23/05/2012:
Colin, KU5B, will be active as V31UB from Placencia Village (WW Loc.
EK56TM), Stann Creek District, Belize, from 23-29 May, 2012. Activity
will be on 160-6 metre CW, SSB, and RTTY. He will also be a

23/05/2012: Pat, VK2PN and Miro, OK1NG are
heading to Lord Howe Island (OC-004) on 23rd May, staying until the
30th. Plans are to use the callsign VK9PN on the HF bands, using CW, SSB
and the Digital modes. Chris VK3FY, through his work, will be going to
Lord Howe Island between 27 May and 2 June. All three will participate
as likely VK9PN during the CQWW WPX CW Contest. QSL via VK2PN.

24/05/2012: The FGC DX Group (Foundation for Global
Children) is pleased to announce their next multi-national DXpedition to
the Kingdom of Bhutan, callsign A5A. They will begin operations by 24
May, 2012 and will run until 6 June. The team is expected to consist of:
Zorro JH1AJT (A5, A5A, A51A), Ted JJ1LIB (A52F), Aki JA4EKO (A52GO),
Kazu JH1OGX (A52KF) and Jon KL2A (A52X). The QTH is in the mountains,
Pine Wood Hotel above the city of Thimphu (Grid Loc. NL47). Plans are to
be QRV on 80-6m, including WARC bands, SSB, CW and RTTY with 3 stations

Laci, HA0HW, will once again be active as J48HW and SV8/HA0HW from
Thassos Island (IOTA EU-174, GIOTA NAS-037, MIA MG-124, WLOTA 4186, WW
Loc. KN20HS) between 24th May and 3th June, 2012. He will take part in
the CQWW WPX CW Contest as J48HW, a
Single-Op/All-Band/High-Power/TB-Wires entry. Before and after the
contest Laci will be QRV on all HF band +6m with monoband fishing pole
verticals and a 2x17m doublet feeding with ladder line. He has a small
MOS-FET amplifier with 300-400 Watts output power. All QSLs are ok via

25/05/2012: Andy, RN3AKK, reports that
Darko, E70A, will once again be active as 6O3A from Hargeisa (Grid Loc.

Radioclub QSO Banat (YO2KQT), Timisoara, Romania, members will be
present from 25 May until 27 May 2012 as partners at the 3rd Hercules

support communications between checkpoints and also operate from the
Domogled-Valea Cernei Nature Park (WFF YOFF-008) for those interested in

LOOKING AHEAD -
26/05/2012:
Mel, SM0MPV, will be active as 8S0DAY from Rindö [Rindo] Island
(EU-084), Stockholms Lan, Sweden, on 26 May, 2012. Plans are to active
on all HF bands, for the first time, from the historical military
redoubt \'Rindö Redutt\'. It was built between 1858 - 1863 aimed to

26/05/2012:
The South Eastern Amateur Radio Group will again operate the Geo Parks
Communication Weekend event (26-27 May) from Tankardstown on the Copper
Coast Geopark in Co. Waterford, Ireland. The callsign should be EI2GEO

26/05/2012: Radio stations from around the world will
exchage greetings with GB6GEO over the airwaves at the English Riviera
Global Geopark on 26th and 27th May, 2012. The special event station
will transmit live from a base set up outside the entrance at the famous
Cocking Court in Torquay, right in the heart of the English Riviera
Global Geopark. Main frequencies to be used are 3.680MHz, 7.080MHz,
14.180MHz, 21.180MHz, and 28.180MHz. GB6GEO will also be transmitting on

04/06/2012: The
Pontefract & District Amateur Radio Society (FISTS #14041) will put
on GB0PH (Pontefract Heritage) from Pontefract Castle (CASHOTA G-261,

23/06/2012: For the
first time Ham Radio Operators are going to take part in the memorial
services for the fallen allied bomber crews from WOII in Hamont Achel.
Since Bart Aerts (ON3FMB) was a little boy his grandfather told him
stories about the crashed airplanes and their crews above Achel and
Hamont. To remember these Heroes Bart decided in 2011 to start with
RAF-MOTA (Royal Air Force Memorial On The Air) activations as a radio
amateur in the north of Limburg at the exact crashsites where the planes
came down during WOII. He is the founder of the Royal Air Force
Memorial On The Air activations in Belgium and wants to keep the
rememberence alive of these airplane crews who died for us so we could
live in freedom. When you want to know more about these activations

(ON3FMB) and a team of radio amateurs from the region (From UBA section
NLB: ON4VLM and ON5WAL, UBA section NOL: ON3EE and ON7KEI and UBA
section MTT: ON3EA) are going on the air with the special callsign
ON1RAFMOTA on this day of memorial services. Their team will be QRV in
SSB on 40m + 20m and on 2m FM above 145.500MHz. They also are going to

21/07/2012: The Pontefract & District Amateur
Radio Society (FISTS #14041) introduce our hobby to the public with the
clubstation GB1AVR at the Steam Rally in Ackworth from 21-22 July, 2012.
They will be operating in the Watertower field between Pontefract and

Orkney Amateur Radio Club (GM8M) members will be active as GS5NB from
Ness Battery, near Stromness, at Scapa Flow, Orkney Island (EU-009, IOSA
OR01, SCOTIA OI14, WLOTA 1652) on 19-21 May, 2012. They will have two
stations active on 80-10 metre CW, SSB and digital modes. They might be
QRV for testing the previous weekend, and at times during the week
preceding. Ness Battery guarded the western approaches to Scapa Flow,
which was the base for the Grand Fleet in WWI, and for the Home Fleet in
