25/11/2011: Niko, 9J3A (S53A) is currently active until 30 November, mostly
during the CQWW DX CW contest. Probably only 10m Low Power this time, or as
usual AB/SO Low Power, depending on the situation there. He will be located in
the Kafue National Park (WFF 9JFF-003, Grid Loc. KH35), Zambia (CQ zone 36),
running 100w into SpiderBeam and some fixed loops. This will be an operation
from the rain forest, under the tent, with generator. QSL via S57S, direct or

25/11/2011: Yuri, UT1FG, will once again be traveling across the Atlantic Ocean
and will be active from some "Wet grids" as UT1FG/MM between 25 November 2011
and the end of May 2012. First trip will be from the Panama Cannal to Huelva,
Spain (EA7), and then to Brunsbuttel, Germany (From there, he will inform us
later). Yuri is reportedly a crew member on the ship, so activity will be during
his free time. Operations are expected on all amateur radio bands, 160m-70cm,
and also the satellites. His activities will be mainly through the satellites,
but also look for him on the HF bands. He will also be active on 6 metres,

25/11/2011: Pete, VE3IKV / VA3RA, will be active from the island of Anguilla
(IOTA NA-022, WLOTA 1474, Grid Loc. FK88) as VP2EAT between 25 November and 3
December, 2011. This will include an entry in the CQWW DX CW Contest (26-27
November), Single-Op on 40-10m. After the contest he will be QRV on the 17m and

27/11/2011: The TM95BV team will be active on 27 November 2011 from the Fort de
la Chaume (DFCF 55-008, WCA F-02350) to continue the commemoration of the 95th
Anniversary of the Battle of Verdun. QRV on the HF and VHF bands, using all
modes; starting at 0900hr and ending at 1730hr local time. QSL via F6KUP or

29/11/2011: Look for Manuel, XE2HUQ, to be active as XF1M from Santa Margarita

30/11/2011: Yoshiaki W3JH (JD1BNX) plans to be active as W3JH/KH2 from Guam

01/12/2011: Felix, DL5XL and Las, DL1LLL will be at Neumayer III Station (AA
DL-03, WAP DEU-08, IOTA AN-016, WFF DLFF-022) in December 2011. They will be
using Club Station's call sign DP0GVN. DL5XL will return back to Germany at the
end of February 2012, while DL1LLL will remain overwintering at Neumayer III

02/12/2011: Martin G3ZAY, Michael G7VJR, Joe JA1LZR, Harumi JF1PJK and Yutaka
JQ2GYU will be active as GJ6UW from the isle of Jersey (IOTA EU-013, WLOTA 0818)
from 2-7 December, 2011. They will operate CW, SSB and RTTY on all bands, with
an emphasis on 160 and 80m for Asia and Japan when propagation is available. The
station will include a JA-facing beverage, an 80m vertical array and a 4-square
for 40m. On other HF bands, they hope to use the Jersey club station. QSL via

SPECIAL EVENTS -
HV - VATICAN
HV50VR is a special callsign to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vatican Radio
Trasmitting Site "Santa Maria di Galeria". The Santa Maria di Galeria
Transmitter was established in 1957 and it is an extraterritorial area in Italy
belonging to the Vatican City. The most interesting aerial is the one for the
medium wave frequency 1530 kHz, which consists of four 94 metre high grounded
free standing towers arranged in a square, which carry wires for a medium wave
aerial on horizontal crossbars. The direction of this aerial can be changed.
HV50VR started operation on 27 September 2007. QSL via I0JBL, direct only.

26/11/2011: Members of the Stirling & District Amateur Radio Society (SDARS)
will activate special event station GB0SA from the Wallace Monument in the City
of Stirling, Central Scotland (EU-005, WLOTA 1234), on the 26th & 27th November,
2011, to celebrate Scotland's St. Andrew's Day (30 November). The two days of
activity are a short window of opportunity available for the SDARS group to
operate on top of the monument on both days. Look for details and updates on the

26/11/2011: The Newport Amateur Radio Society will be activating the Newport
ROC Bunker in Bettws Hill, Newport, Monthmouthshire (WAB ST29, WW Loc. IO81LO),
Wales (EU-005, WLOTA 0453), on Saturday 26 November 2011 using callsign GC4EZW.
Located in pasture land there only remains steps leading to the bunker. QSL via

01/12/2011: Fred, PA0FAW, will be running " PG65ISWL " to end the ISWL's 65th

active 2nd to 4th December 2011 as TP50CE to celebrate the 50th anniversary of

02/12/2011: Special event station SX100A will be active on 2-4 December 2011 to

CANADA - Postage Rates to Increase in 2012 -
Effective 16 January 2012, Canada Post will increase the price of postage stamps
for domestic, U.S.A. and International mail.
The following will be the new letter mail rates for up to 30g:
Postage within Canada will become $0.61 + 13% tax = $0.69 CDN
Postage to the U.S.A. will become $1.05 + 13% tax = $1.19 CDN
Postage to International destinations $1.80 + 13% tax = $2.03 CDN
Note: The tax can vary from Province to Province depending on their tax
schedule. The above rates are for the Province of Ontario.
