portion of related radio activity. The article includes six full pages
of suggested frequencies to monitor in different areas. Additional
features of the September Pop'Comm include a guide to finding and
eliminating radio frequency interference and a 'First Look' at Uniden's revolutionary
'Home Patrol' scanner (including a link to a video preview). The
complete table of contents and full-page samples from inside the magazine
are on the website as well, along with an audio sample of pirate radio
airchecks, previewing a feature in the October Pop'Comm. To see - and

CY0, SABLE ISLAND
(Update). Randy, N0TG, reports: "Operation dates have been modified
slightly due to logistics matters: October 21–29th, 2010. Unfortunately,
Murray, WA4DAN, has had to withdraw from the DXpedition, due to
business conflicts. He was the original organizer and has been involved
with all of the planning since early in 2009. Gary Bartlett, VE1RGB,
has been recruited as the 4th operator. Gary is a skilled CW operator,
active competitor in contests, experienced in handling pileups, and a
great technical background. In addition, a plus is that Gary has previously
operated from Sable Island. Callsigns are: CY0/AA4VK, CY0/AI5P, CY0/N0TG
and CY0/VE1RGB. QSL 'all' callsigns DIRECT via N0TG or the preferred
QSL route is VIA the 'ONLINE QSL REQUEST Service'. QSL instruc- tions

members of the "Lowlands 5x5 Rapid Deployment Amateur Radio Group", will
activate the special event callsign PD55RADAR between September 4-14th.
The "RaDAR" is short for "Rapid Deployment Amateur Radio", and this
is an international concept of Radio Amateurs being able to operate anywhere
under all circumstances. The goal is to set up an Amateur Radio station
quickly on remote sites anywhere using only battery power. Any- where
means not only sites reachable by car but also on locations after a
few miles walk. The 5×5 concept means being able to communicate by Amateur
Radio within 5 minutes after arriving with the QRP power of 5 watts
maximum. The "Lowlands 5x5 RaDAR Group" is not a club with payed membership.
It's the concept that brings these Dutch Radio Amateurs together.

PJ2, NETHERLANDS
ANTILLES (Press Release). The following press release was received
by John Barcroft, K6AM, dated August 26th: "NEW DXCC OPERATIONS ON
CURACAO STARTING 10-10-10 -- As many of you know by now, the Netherlands Antilles
will likely be dissolved as a country on October 10, 2010. Several new
DXCC entities will result from this change including the addition of the
island of Curacao (PJ2) as a new DXCC entity separate from Bonaire (PJ4). Since
this will meet the criteria for a new DXCC entity, we expect all operations
to be accepted as of 10/10/10. While ARRL approval is not 100% guaranteed,
and may not be officially announced until all DXCC requirements are
documented, plans are in place to mount several operations from the Signal
Point super-station, PJ2T on Curacao beginning on day one. The
first operation runs from Oct 10 until Oct 18 with a group led by K8ND.
They will be followed closely by a team of nine operators from the U.S.
and Germany who will be there through November 2nd including a M/M entry
in the CQWW SSB contest. We will be using both PJ2/homecall and PJ2T
during the 3-week run. We will be on all bands before the contest, including
6 meters, running CW, SSB and RTTY. Considering the number of simultaneous
new entity operations, frequencies will be selected to avoid interference. The
GAREC conference (http://www.garec.net/)
is being held on Curacao October 11-12th, and we will be opening the
PJ2T station to any of the participating amateurs from around the
world who wish to operate in their free time before or after the
conference. The station will also be open to any local Curacao
amateurs who wish to operate from Signal Point during the post
10-10-10 week. These will not be sponsored expeditions nor are
donations being solic- ited. The operators involved are covering all
costs. QSL as instructed on QRZ.com"
PJ5 & PJ7,
NETHERLANDS ANTILLES. With the strong possibility of two new DXCC
entities to be created on October 10th, Bill, AA4NC, plans to activate St.
Eustatius (NA-145) between October 9-15th, as PJ5/AA4NC, followed by Sint
Maarten (NA-105) between October 15-18th, as PJ7/AA4NC. QSL route will
be announced.
PJ5, NETHERLANDS ANTILLES. Operators Janusz/SP6IXF
and Wlodek/SP6EQZ will be active from St.Eustatius (NA-145) starting
on November 18th. They plan to be active for two weeks and will go
QRT on December 3rd. Callsigns will be PJ5/SP6IXF and PJ5/SP6EQZ.
Activity is expected to be on all HF bands (160-10m) using CW, SSB
and RTTY. Their location on the island seems to be favorable to
Europe. QSL via their home callsigns. A Web site will be available
soon. Also, online logs will be available during or right after the
DXpedition.
PJ7, SINT MAARTEN (Press Release). Co-leaders Joe
Pater/W8GEX and Craig Thompson/K9CT sent out the following press
release on August 26th: "The PJ7 team going to Sint Maarten on
10-10-10 for the new county activation reports that plans are coming
together very nicely. The team is in the process of gathering and
testing equipment and antennas before shipping to the staging area
where they will be put in a container for sea shipment to the island. We
are happy to report that not only is RF Concepts/Alpha a proud sponsor
for our Sint Maarten Dxpedition beginning 10-10-10, they have a
great promotion in conjunction with our trip. In addition to
providing six new Alpha 8410 amps, and one Alpha 8406 six meter
amplifier, RF Concepts will make a cash donation to the DXpediton for
anyone who purchases a new 9500, 8410, or 8406 between now and the end
of September and specifies the Sint Maarten trip. The company
will donate 150 USDs for the purchase of an Alpha 9500 and 100 USDs
for the purchase of an Alpha 8410 or Alpha 8406. This offer is for
any new orders (not trade-ins) ordered and shipped between now and the
end of September. For further information, contact Molly Hardman,
W0MOM, VP Sales at: molly@rfconcepts.com
Phone 303 473-9232 http://www.rfconcepts.com
F A X 303-473-9660
The team has received emails
asking about when it will count as a new one. We do not know yet, but
do know that the ARRL DXCC committee is working on this matter and
hopefully will have a news release soon. The team is working
diligently to get everything ready, and is anxious to get on the air
to hand out a new one."

RI1, FRANZ JOSEF LAND (New Prefix) Eugene, UA4RX, is
currently active from here as RI1FJ (ex-R1FJT, between 2006-2008). It
seems in Russia most island operations are using the RI prefix now.
Eugene started operating on August 24th, and will be on a new 1 year
tour at the Weather Station on Heiss Island, Franz Josef Land.
Activity has been on 20 and 17 meters CW at various times (0130-0200z
and 0900-1200z). QSL to: Eugene Chepur, P.O Box 1122, Kaliningrad,

QSLs used to be via UA4RC who became a 'SK' in 2009. There were a lot
of questions on the DXcluster on how to get a QSL from R1FJT after
UA4RC became a 'SK'. QSL cards for R1FJT's 2006-2008 operation can
now be obtained from UA2FM."
RSGB COVENTION 2010. Just a reminder
that the "RSGB Convention 2010" (formerly know as HFC) will be held
